The title refers to the one hand, of course, the main task of the Balance Board, on the other hand but also to the already mentioned several times (in my opinion :) lack when it comes to the surface of the part ...
But let's first things first:
The mission met already after two days.
When unpacking, I thought at first that the board but looks a bit cheap.
The impression has not volatilize even when other tossing and turning.
Most likely it has something to do with uA that I expected a flexible ball and not a (cheap-looking) hemisphere of hard plastic.
By the material used is now also the statement that stability can only be guaranteed on a carpeted floor or exercise mat, comprehensible.
On parquet (or similar), the risk would be too great that the part unexpectedly slipping to one side.
Back to Significance: The board seems to be stable (since "only" two-piece hard plastic consisting) to fulfill and its main purpose (Balancing, and the subsequent improvements in muscle / body tension, or sense of balance).
However, With regard to the surface, so can not speak (with socks) stability, or skid resistance.
When you first time reasonably stable standing up, like it so go until this time, or as soon as you tilt to one side, it is the stability as well as already happened and you will inevitably slip down. I personally think it's not safe that you could in the worst case completely lose his footing and fall by abruptly slipping of the feet. If the manufacturer has a service provided only with sports shoes (advantage: Non-slip, better stability, Disadvantage: Smaller effect on joints / muscles), then a warning would have been useful (See "PS" below).
Is it possible to like us thus discouraged?
Of course not!
Flight a few pieces anti-slip tape (tape black, roughened surface), which otherwise on steps is used, it pasted and already works well with the Balance Board. Barefoot helps's very likely even against cornea ... ;-)
(The idea has matured on reading the reviews prior to arrival of the shipment that -. Despite some slip resistance positive reviews - of maintenance but could be absolutely no question, but then something made me surprised.)
At first I wanted to buy the green Board (Level 2), can give me now but, after a few minutes on the blue board a deeper level hardly imagine (Although I would have liked better green!). If you reasonably (normally) is movable, you can access without any problems to level 3.
CONCLUSION:
Without modification, only limited recommendable!
PS: The package was in addition to the warranty card (30 years - This part is according to the manufacturer so that for eternity.!) Nothing at.
No instruction on specific exercises or so. Maybe I'm expecting a little too much by the Board, but only with draufstehen's may after a while then probably be a little monotonous and boring.
For a device of a US manufacturer a great red alert would certainly also been included that by slipping (either the ball down, or feet up) injury. Also, if the consumer in Europe may assess or suspect such a risk better, yet it is not completely out of hand, that a safety notice can never hurt.
ADDENDUM:
The idea with the anti-slip tape was not so great - with socks hilfts (but better not valent attract!), Barefoot, the surface is a bit too rough, so that small rotary or sliding movements can quickly pull painful consequences ,
