I had vogesehen the ball head for my Gorillapod SLR Zoon. It should be used in conjunction with a Nikon D80 and an all-glass lens (Nikon 35-70 / f2.8). Camera and lens together weigh about 1.4 Kg. Both my dealer and the Internet showed the head to be sufficient for the stated 3Kg weight. The ball head fulfills its function; he was not moving at sufficiently firmly tightened hold button (by hand). As a weak point, however, proved the plate of quick clamping device. The need is tightened with a coin (10ct). Even with very solid mounting the camera did not stay where they should stay there, but twisted in lateral position. The reason for this is not on the non-slip plate (the image of the bright part of the screw for connection to the camera protrudes). The exchange was not a problem and I am wonderfully pleased with a Manfrotto 484RC2 now.
