Distillation takes place in England in Laverstoke and industrially. The special is the towing distillation, where the alcohol vapor is passed into a copper pot with herbs. The added water comes all the way from the manufacturer to a lake in Wales. Result of the relatively mild, flowery taste, especially liked juniper less before than other gins. As befits a London Dry, the Sapphire is distilled 3 times.
There are several variants - the Sapphire here is the oldest brand with 10 botanicals. The taste comes among others, almonds and lemon peel. There is the export variant with 47% Alk.Vol. (Export and USA) as well as the UK version with 40% Alk.Vol. Which can also be found in most supermarkets. The lower Alokoholanteil then transported less bound Botanicals, so the 40% variant has contributed massively to a loss of image of that mark and in various tastings bad section. In Germany one finds the 47% bottle usually at airports as 1l bottle.
Other trademarks are the family of Bombay Original Dry, wherein the Botanicals have been reduced from 10 to 8. Finally, there is the Sapphire East, which you now also find here on Amazon. Was introduced in September 2011 in Las Vegas and has 12 botanicals (Lemongrass and peppercorns) - supposedly to compensate for the sweet American Tonic Water.
The Gin can not do much wrong when you want to pour a larger amount of gin and tonics. Neither the rich marketing budget of Bacardi nor the widespread use can to tide over that of Bombay is an industrial Gin for the General Bar Assortment.
