When Gateway even I lack a web interface with which it would be possible to define the IP address or the access port. It would also be great if you could create the gateway single radio receiver directly and this would be taken over by the control software on the mobile phone. It is missing without the web interface of course the possibility single radio receiver to the PC / Internet Explorer to switch. The only operating feature is the app "Power Switch" on an Android device. Should turn the phone again - falls from the control. Operation via Internet is komplizierer set because the IP address needs to be set by the router and port forwarding to be set to a bit trickier. Even encrypted access is not possible!
This means concretely. Access from either world only with its own VPN connection to the router or unsecured for everyone if he knows the IP address and the port. Thus, the theoretical possibilities by integrating the IP network are not being used.
The app "Power Switch" also works perfectly in. The app offered by the manufacturer "plug Checker" is in contrast associated with additional costs. The Gateway is detected in the same network and you can instantly switch to the edit code. The widgets are super, since one single switch can be directly put on the surface. What is lacking are ways to automate or timing. Would love the lights of the aquarium on and off automatically. This timing may be mapped in the app either. At the gateway itself, it would of course be even better.
Conclusion: The system works reliably as the manual remote control. Unfortunately, the theoretical possibilities are not exploited by a connection to LAN / Internet and a little processing power and therefore provide no added value in comparison with the hand held remote control.
With such a device the following features would easily be possible:
- Manual Einbidung in the native Lan (definition IP and Port)
- Encrypted transmission of switching commands via the Internet and thus control from anywhere in the world
- WEB interface for control of consumers via a standard Internet Explorer
- Minimum level of logic in the Gateway in the form of automation or timing of consumers. Of switching processes triggered by general dependencies (eg sunrise or sinking) I still do not speak. Would be super ;-) And on the computing power here sure easy to do. Would love to pay twice for a device with this functionality.
- One more class about it would certainly be 868MHz and receiving signals to for example a radio chime with embed in a switching logic
- And the ultimate feature would be if the Gateway could "learn" radio signals. Just like the cheap key chains as hand-held radio transmitter. Then you could also teach the radio signal for eg entrance gate and drive over the Internet.
