Packaging solid, solid base, huge screen compared to a 24 ".
This screen has real strengths:
- 10bits display (1 billion colors) on the DisplayPort v1.2 and v2.0 HDMI
- Low power consumption
- Knobs of sensitive OSD (like on Samsung phones) with a discreet power LED.
- Height adjustable stand, possible tilting the screen vertically and a rotation on the foot.
- Built-in speakers sound good, purists râleront, but they possess a decent headphones or a third facility 5.1.
- A white imaculé on web page of incredible homogeneity, plus brightness and excellent contrast.
- On the Dell site you can download a small program to set Windows settings present in the OSD of the screen, choose color profiles and choose pinning profiles in Windows windows, very useful on this wide screen format.
- Total immersion in games and movies in 21: 9 format movies (even if a loss of quality is felt on a film given the 1080p screen resolution, priority technical demo 4K for a successful jaw dropping ).
- Screen the curvature does not interfere in any case, it was for me a major unknown that I was afraid of being disturbed especially in Photoshop / InDesign, being in front of the screen, the curve "fades "following somehow the natural distortion of perspective of the eye, as we are obliged to turn (slightly) the eyes or head to look at an extreme to the other of the screen, each zone the screen appears to be equidistant from the eye.
Important point to note though.
3440x1440 pixels resolution is very greedy. I currently own a graphics card GTX560Ti, having only 860MB of GDDR5 and has only 2 DVI connectors and one mini-HDMI v1.2. The screen does not have a DVI connector, I had to go through a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable, but can only display a resolution of 2560x1440 at 60Hz, 30Hz or 3440x1440 in, both of which display only 8-bit color (16 million colors) and without the sound signal from the HDMI cable (full bandwidth of the cable for the display).
Check carefully, for owners of a GPU a bit old, the connectors and opportunities for them.
I intend in the near future to buy a GTX960 GTX970 see to qualify for the v2.0 HDMI connectivity @ 10bits with sound. The GTX960 is sufficient for the Windows display, but the massive resolution is very (very) greedy for games, especially that there is no intermediate resolution 21: 9 as in the 16: 9.
Having the vertical black bars on the sides of the screen does not interfere in the content of 16: 9.
The screen arrived without a single dead pixel.
The only "fault" if I may say, the anti-glare screen coating is slightly worse than my old Dell 2407WFP, but nothing annoying though.
The set is a monstrous screen, excellent image quality, very good finish with quality plastics. Really happy with this purchase, I definitely recommend to image enthusiasts and amateur photos.
