Not simple to read "Not even death" after "Winning the war" certainly one of the best books I have read in recent years. I admit, I even reread several times with pleasure (this you does it happen often?)
"Not even death" while remaining a good novel (the main opinion) remains a step below. Is it normal to enjoy more severely author that one holds in high regard, this is a shortcut that I dare to borrow.
The plot is much less tortured, more readable, even in the (beautiful) Feather Jaworski.
Besides it he actually has an underlying plot, an ambivalence of the characters, or some insurmountable challenges to face? The rise of a young warrior to royalty (being him ... even the son of a defeated king betrayed because ...) can not endorse the bib of the most original scenario. Bellovesus lost his father and royalty, but he kept everything: a family, a history, loyal companions, a mother and a devoted brother supports. Etymologically, Bellovesus means "one who is worthy of power," a destiny mapped out?
Maybe it was you too used to the epic dimension of improbable but Conan Howard earning a crown with his sword alone, and Fitz bastard groom Hobb who flew to the light before you prefer shadow success. After all, seems Bellovesus can be simply human, young and in addition, so vulnerable. This blandness is it still a (pleasant surprise) Jaworski next? A man's story or a story of men?
The characters of the novel, less complex, devious point stereotyped, are less pleasurable than a quarter of the Podesta, or a tenth of Benvenuto.
"Even in Death" remains readable but if the universe is fully documented and consistent, the book seems to seek his or her styles (can be an author's will). The story trundles and the liking of pages and chapters from the novel, the story, the tale (fairy like Hansel and Gretel fantasy view) according to the states of the main character.
The effect therefore seems to me, after reading or missed completely or fully managed, leaving me all the same on the desire to continue the adventure as JP Jaworski takes us moments of reading a great flavor. I will be the second installment.
