Customer Review

Now the Stones a lot of live recordings and compilations have this by now brought out. On most of it but you can do without. It usually rich studio albums you someday all should have as Stones- fan; live and compilation albums are exempt.
An exception to this has the present album here; not only because it comes with "Little Baby" a new song contains (the others are all already on other songs (Studio -?) albums released), but because here - unlike other Stones- albums of this nature - finally a cross-section the most beautiful songs the Stones is presented. It could therefore almost as a sort of "Greatest Hits" already - go through the album "senior rock band in the world".
Although the songs were recorded in different places, clubs and studios, and come from different eras of "Stones- era", the album acts as a unified whole. All the songs, the whole "show" fit each other, is a treat for the ears; this very well received, well sung and intoned; Everything fits!
Except for said "Little Baby", the Dylan- song "llike a rolling stone" and the wonderfully sung by Keith Richards "Slipping Away" (from "Steel Wheels" - album of 1989) come here all the songs from the 60s and 70s so the early phase of the band; perhaps one reason why the album works so very self-contained. A year earlier, the band had re-released with "Voodoo Lounge" a very remarkable and high end album chart with many good songs; yet no song on this album it appears here.
Many of the songs here were indeed back in the setlist for the Scorsese- film "Shine A Light" resumed (the atmosphere of this album is reminiscent of the Scorsese- concert film); a sign that the band of this song / this style was now convinced.
The selection of songs is very well made, and they sound very good at all here. The songs here breathe especially the blues; the Stones have thus since its foundation never leave their roots, and there is probably not a band that were commercially viable with this style than the Stones. That they owe their style, especially the blues, is visible again; namely when repeatedly very old blues songs are sung; even more unknown pieces, and cover versions of old almost completely forgotten bluesmen faced bow to the stones so; and even if is played primarily against young people. That's brave and worthy of respect!
It's a rather quiet music; there are hardly any real rock songs here; especially the second half consists of the slower songs; again amazing when you consider that the Stones have been known primarily as a rock band, and often still regarded as "Rock and Roll" - are called band (incorrectly).

CONCLUSION: The mE best "compilations / live album" the Stones! Wonderful atmosphere! Who wants to have such an album absolutely is the clear advice on this!
Gorgeous Stones- Feeling! Also known as "entry" in "the world of the Rolling Stones" certainly very appropriate!
An album that can be heard over and over again!
