Throttle and Stick are connected to a PS / 2-cable (long enough to ask Stick and Throttle comfortable at shoulder width on the table, even for large, strong people). However, it could be built into a Do-It-Yourself cockpit be somewhat difficult. The HOTAS is connected by a USB cable from the throttle, the throttle is thus the master unit and the stick can not be used alone. The PC thus recognizes deb HOTAS as a unit.
Through the 3-mode switch, the pinkie switch (quasi Shift key) and the on-the-fly changing of the profiles directly on the HOTAS (through the clutch button on the throttle and the silver round button on the stick) without hands to accept the HOTAS, you have virtually limitless possibilities in the function assignment. Clutch and Pinkie switch can be per driver but also disable and use it as a normal button.
The precision of the sticks I think is good to very good, but I miss the comparison with other, high-priced products. I had been rather "normal" as joysticks Logitech Wingmen series. I comparison, the Saitek X52 Pro is just about a Revelation.
A points deduction for:
- The three trigger switches at the base of the sticks are placed unfavorably because you rarely the hand can take the stick when flying / wants. The toggle would have better can still accommodate the Throttle
- Mouse stick on Throttle difficult and imprecise to use. Here you should take a smoother drive, the addition also still should provide better contact surface for fingers. The small pin is too stiff and has too small a contact surface for the thumb in order to serve him accurately can (but thanks to the Saitek SST software can be the mouse stick and reprogram)
