Oceanborn (New Version) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Start doing the album with the track "Stargazers". A very fast song with beautiful melodies. Above all, the quiet part of the song I really like. It continues with "Gethsemane", in my opinion, the best song on the album. It consists of several song parts, about 7 pieces. Thus, it is very well built. This song has it all. Great keyboard parts, a class guitar solo at the end, a nice text and Tarja's beautiful vocals. But should not forget the short keyboard solo in the middle of the song, which I think is just great. next song Nightwish show times from a different angle. "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean" is a little harder than you would expect from Nightwish. In addition, it must be said that it also represents a second male singer here. But (thankfully) not Tuomas as on the first album, but Tapio Wilska (Sethian, ex Finntroll). He sings very fitting the devil with his rougher. I like the song but not particularly well. Apart from the really beautiful keyboard parts it has something to offer in my opinion, nothing special. "Sacrament Of Wilderness", the name of the next song. A brilliant song with a beautiful melody, but somehow I can not write it. I can only say that the keyboard solo is just great. Now we come to my opinion the worst song of "Oceanborn". "Passion And The Opera", this song is just boring and has nothing to offer. The only thing you may note as positive is Tarja's voice. The next track is "Swanheart". A quiet and melodic ballad with beautiful flute parts. One of the most beautiful ballads I've heard of Nightwish so far. Quiet it also goes further with "Moondance". However, only the first 20 seconds, because then comes a really nice instrumental fast to light. Unfortunately, it is so far the only Instrumental Nightwish what it has done on an album. After the initial phase is again a quiet flute passage, and then it will be faster. Anyway, it is one of the best instrumentals I've ever heard. The next song is called "The Riddler". A very simple knitted midtempo song, which I like but still. The peaceful passage is highlight in this song. "Pharaoh Sails To Orion" is a faster and harder song again. Again sings Tapio Wilska. It begins with a calm keyboard intro, accompanied by chimes. After Tapio Wilskas vote has begun, it will be faster. Above all, the keyboard is running in this song at full speed. There are many changes in tempo and at all the song is very versatile. Each site is different somehow. For me, the track is one of the highlights of the album. It continues with the next ballad, namely "Walkin In The Air". Initially, electric guitar and drums still hold back. You hear a lot more of Tarja's vocals and Tuomas Keyboard, which complement each other perfectly. After a lovely flute part and a slow guitar solo the song is a little harder and faster. The best ballad available Nightwish. The album ends with the track "Sleeping Sun", which came only later on the album after the single was so successful. The song was composed for the eclipse. It is the third ballad on the album, but also the worst of the three. Despite everything, all the instruments together in perfect harmony and with Tarja's vocals. A very nice way to finish the album.

Overall it's a great album, better than "Angels Fall First". It has no particular weakness. The Meldodien are super and all Instrumenteharmonieren miteinandern perfect with Tarja's vocals. One should definitely possess the album even if you are not a Nightwish fan.
