I came to the conclusion That the following are needed:
- Metal keeps on going for long (all my plastic spoons broke Eventually, and They are less hygienic, a must on the road)
- Foldable designs have more trouble then help (cleaning, breaking, sweet residues stick into corners)
- Not too small, not too big
- Relatively flat, otherwise gets in the way
- Light (I tend to decide to leave at home the heavier parts)
Somehow, this spoon-fork combo finally ticks all the boxes, and I've even forgotten how much I appreciate I use it.
I also tried the plastic versions, and have already broke three of them, so Although cheaper, more expensive on the long term.
Cleaning is very important for any food related equipment. Working in food R & D for many years, I learned it the hard way. Any equipment is as good as it is easy to clean. This spoon is finally easy to clean, not like swiss army knifes, or foldable designs with hinges.
The shape of the spoon fork gives enough curves for eating and holding in hand, and so flat enough to pack it away Easily.
In fact, I have two of them in constant use. One stays Constantly in my normal commuting bag, You Never Know When a yogurt crosses your path. The second one is part of my camping gear, did I take on tours. I therefore tend to give it as a gift to friends Whom I know travel a lot, so far everybody Became addict to.
Anyone in need of other foldable kitchen utensils, let me know, I have unused stock ...
Conclusion:
AVOID THE PLASTIC VERSION, as it Tends to break in half.
BUY THE TITAN, fivestars, Easily!
The Light My Fire Titanium spoon-fork combo is just the most practical travel spoon I've ever used.
