The cast is very well assembled. I do not really know much about country music, and occasionally there are a few mannerisms in Reba McEntire's delivery - for my taste, She Could Vary a little more on her phrasing of the title line of the aforementioned song, but I gather That Country Music Tends to be pretty narrative, Which Lends itself well to musical theater crossovers. McEntire's connection to the lyrics is what I'd expect from any musical theater performer, and she does make her character's arc a little more comprehensible than on manyother Recordings - she is supported in this endeavor by a good helping of dialogue. This is so among Certainly Brian Stokes Mitchell's best recordings - Frequently I find him Either too involved or not involved at all Here his character has to agenda, Which is not oversold -. His voice fits the part, of course. Jason Daniely Usually sounds glorious, and Lillias White Must Be the Best Bloody Mary on record. I have some problems with how the character is written - she is the shady exotic lady - but White Seems to have a blast, and her "Bali hai" is a thing of beauty. Alec Baldwin is therefore in the cast - and on the front cover - but he does not have all that much to DO.
This might be the most Actually must-have Rodgers and Hammerstein recording after the soundtrack of "The Sound of Music". THUS, it needs to be bought.
