I really like pretty much any kind darkly tinged electronic music. That the Lord Schmechta -alias Sevren Ni-arb knows his stuff, I would not deny it. Some of his older songs are really good. But this here is kind of uninspired and devoid of ideas that one can hardly believe that the man has been so long in the business. The spark does not jump over at least for me. Actually, no song gets stuck really. Many pieces are similar and bob up and down in the mid-tempo so to himself. Symptomatic: The eh`schon somewhat unspectacular "Electric Summer" ceases to 4:43. "Tormented Skin" begins, but sounds basically exactly the same, and again 2:33 ripples on.
Not even soundwise convinced me the disc. On the one hand one thinks often, it would be any recording track missing (for example in the very first song), on the other hand the sound is partially overloaded. Obviously, following the recent Depeche Mode much is artificially distorted or chased by filters. Presumably that's thematically even so willed. "Sounds of the Universe" are here to "Sounds of the Ocean". The "special sound design" was elsewhere even praised. I find`s still getting used to. Clear synth structures and surfaces such as the Future-Pop can be found, however, rarely. With EBM has also nothing to do. One of the few dance floors-compatible songs is perhaps "The side of the wrong". The sound, however, about the way to Icon of Coil have listened to already over 10 years ago. "MKK.2" could come from the Kalkbrenner. The saving grace in which actually arises atmosphere, which is much too -bezeichnenderweise kurze- last piece "AICSIN".
Conclusion: Maybe too much wanted. The concept is certainly even consistent within its borders, but the most important-namely strong Songs- missing.
This CD is the reason why I have let me just register as a seller on Amazon. I think that says it all.
