I have photographed almost 2 years with the Panasonic LX5 and am now changed to LX7, I want a little comparison here LX5 - Rate LX7.
On technical details I will dispense times, these have been mentioned already abundant or can be found.
Have the LX7 been working for almost 2 months and tested and already had on a city tour there.
One of my reasons why I moved to the LX7 is very important to me video function, it is now with 1080p / 50 with stereo sound in the quality much better than the LX5.
I watch my pictures and movies in my home theater to 250cm diagonal and am really happy with the picture and sound quality. By nine the chip LX7 there is no purple "flares" in backlight more, which is very pleasant. The picture is going very smooth and almost smooth, but of course also arrives on the setter.
It has also been at the video function all freedoms the image setting, which makes a lot of latitude when films.
The automatic for the wind works very well, the sound in the movies has become really very much better.
The enormous light intensity of the lens was already mentioned in various tests, in this respect there is a significant increase for the LX5.
In Kichen, museums, etc, are in which a flash or even sometimes a tripod prohibited one is very well positioned here with the LX7.
Mir has also really liked the quality of the images with the built-in HDR function of the LX7, which images are then but probably a matter of taste.
At this point, the first minus the LX7, which has led to the devaluation of only 4 star:
In Bildreihen it is no longer possible to take these with self-timer (2s or 10s) to create in the corresponding PC programs HDR'`s. So you have to manually trigger, which can cause camera shake, of course.
That was when the LX5 even more different and I do not know what devil Panasonic ridden this feature abolish ??
Although you can use the built-in HDR function with self-timer, but then no RAW's be gespeichert..Schade ..
Another highlight, which is also very accommodating my usage habits, the new iris ring.
Since I work almost exclusively in the program A, it is a nice addition. The ring can be, as all parts of the lens, adjust well, raced a good and nothing moved without saying.
At the LX5 the lever for the aspect ratio was a bit smooth and disguised himself from time to time during removal from the pocket, which is in the LX7 not more so.
To bag that fits in the same pocket LX7 as the LX5 (have a Lowa) because nothing has changed (despite aperture ring and slightly larger lens).
Battery: As nothing essential has changed my habits and thus on consumption, so I can appreciate the life of the (identical) battery's pretty good.
She has, in my experience, decreases in the LX7 by about a 1/3! Also can not rely 100% on the bar graph to be. After 2 days in regular use in the morning you might even 3 bar, but suddenly it goes rapidly down and suddenly it flashes red ..
If Wochenentrip I had earlier with the LX5 never the charger, then I bought a (foreign) Battery of "VHBW".
The do it well so far, but the capacity is slightly lower than the original, but for 8.90 you can not complain. I use this now as a backup if the display times should abandon me again.
A replacement battery I had not at the LX5, and the MMN was there not necessary.
The lens cap is something fummeliger than the LX5, if you have warm fingers everything is ok, but in the winter I'm gspannt times.
As could eigendlich Panasonic times come a clever solution ...
The display has also been improved in contrast to the LX5, it is clearer to use and now even in bright light.
However, one must of course of 3 "not expect miracles, indoor shots with flash see my experience on the display a little worse than they really are.
The quality of the display surface, however, was also at the LX5's all right, because no scratches were it even after almost 2 years, though I look at a camera as a commodity and not squeamish deal with it. This will probably not change in the LX7.
So an overpriced Displayfolie is superfluous!
Otherwise, a lot has been at all possible settings and visual effects done, but since I have thus made not so much I want to also write anything.
Außnahme is perhaps the Panorama function, which works very well, but unfortunately the final images are good due to the low resolution not to increase.
So a panorama image has only a size of approximately 800kb.
All in all I'm happy with the LX7, mentioned to the few minuses.
Conclusion:
I would recommend the camera but who do not, however, a lot of filming, or just outside in the summer is on the way can also quietly continue to assist in my opinion for LX5, which one is a good hand at the moment surely get a bargain price.
