In principle, the player will play with me everything from what has taken even the old - here they are a standoff. This is good, but also geleichzeitig the biggest drawback - the transition to the new machine is really only necessary if one of the new features (see above) is required - otherwise you should think about the changes again.
I want you not bore long with the initial installation, only so much - everything is simply out of hand and you do not expect any problems - even without a manual.

Better GUI:
I just say wow - no other player, not the AC Ryan, have a nice menu soch, which also allow a few options for customization. Men can choose from 6 Themes and this can still provided with some background images, or combine your own pictures. In the forums there to download some themes because it is then but a little more complicated - but it has possibilities.
The menu system is clear and simple and you can find everything quickly. The sources (NAS, USB HDD, DLNA server) you can easily set up and because of WDTV remembers the login information you can by a simple push of a button (+ following selection and confirmation) between the different sources of change. Better Buffering:
Probably more interesting for WLAN users - more RAM means that the WDTV longer periods than the old caching can (and does, according to Board) - here I must confess that I can not speak from experience because I am connected through cables - wanted it but for the purpose of information write here.
Integrated WLAN:
Says it all - WiFi is now (with no USB stick) the same right on board and work. Easily is the connection and the Internet, but who wants Full HD look over WiFi will be disappointed, that's impossible or very good (local) circumstances. But here is not the WDTV blame but the WLAN technology per se.
Gigabit is not on board, but I think that this is not a major shortcoming, since. In the media boxes that are on the market and which have Gigabit, the speed does not get beyond a 100 Mbit connection
Remote Control:
Is slightly larger than the old - or about something bigger than an average hand - and is very comfortable to hold. Bottom is rubberized slightly rough, feels good and you will not slip off. Media Scanner:
In itself a great idea, but immature. Can upgrade to the existing films with content description and cover or backdrop. Likewise, after indexing one has the possibility to date, genre or similar to filters. If you add new files to the WDTV can see what is new even. That is the theory.
In small libraries that will work all right, but with extensive indexing takes an eternity - is also correcting the found content, if the WDTV is mistaken sometimes - no joy, where you have to honestly say that this is without a mouse and keyboard in any form a cruelty would.
So in principle, a good idea and for people with a persevering mind quite ok. There are from the community but its own tool (WDTVHUBGEN), which can be run on a PC. This can generate the data required for description, cover and backdrop without the WDTV is involved.
If you opt for this tool, but you should turn off the scanner from WDTV media, since the two can not tolerate. Then of course you have to renounce to all the features, which brings with it the indexing.

HD sound formats:
