The big difference between Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson and Sarah Cross on the other side is that those really good albums were written on the body. Not only individual good songs (which Sarah does have) but Albums "of a piece" ie albums that also have a uniform style. Leona Lewis goes there towards RnB, Kelly Clarkson something in rock department, and Sarah Cross? Since nearly every song goes in a different direction. I almost want to call them: "Hello, wake up, DSDS is over!" And if Idol is over, it is time to look for an audience. But that also means that I have to start to address all those people who have never seen DSDS and have no idea who I am really. This album will deter nearly everyone of this kind, because people have a certain taste. They like to listen to rock, RnB, techno, ballads or whatever. Now one could say: But this album contains but all that! But you really believe because of the rockers want to hear all the other crap? Or RnB fan? Or Baladenliebhaber? The stand at Saturn (or elsewhere) in the store, a listen to the album, maybe discover two or three songs that you like and decide that they will not buy album for two to three songs. Since it would not help much if the radio would play ne travel more. Oh, btw Single. How can you take only one at best mediocre song like "If One Bird Sings" as first single? Something I can not understand for the life. The first single is also advertising figurehead, that which you want to make people aware of you, and then something comes kopfschüttel * *. Well, at least it is in such a album not surprising that fails to national success (internationally let's rather not talk).
Too bad, because the word is that I was the first that comes to mind. Because Sarah's voice is wonderful, no doubt. Again I ask the question: Who actually dovetailed because all nonsense? Production, marketing, songwriting, SONG COMPILING, singles ... Who decides that? I can not imagine for the life that Sarah himself as much influence on it, the decisions are likely to meet others for them / have taken. Where it has be led, so you can see. Too bad, there was more to it.
To come again on the album itself back, a few words about each song (with a subjective evaluation of course):
1. Broken Ground - perhaps the best song on the album. RnB number; goes into the blood; would have been my choice for the first single. That would probably be the style in which the album was supposed to be and where Sarah should (essentially) making music. Even the song Sarah an opportunity to play off her great voice. 5/5
2. If One Bird Sings - The aforementioned first single. Ne Balade. Read me quite cold, especially since even better songs on the album are of a similar nature. Mistake to take this as the first single. 2/5
3. Whenever It's Raining - Average Pop number, not really good not really bad. Ultimately sinks into irrelevance. 2/5
4. I'll Be Yours - The next Balade. If I had wanted to ne Balada couple out, it would have been this, or "Heaven is a better place". 4/5
5. Over Again - Dance number. Not a bad song in the true sense, but: Complete waste of Sarah's voice. Something almost everyone can sing in the music business. 2/5
6. Anything But Love - The Bohlen song as a duet with Daniel. Come on the album over very cold emotionless, who has heard him live will probably enttäsucht. In any case, only average. 3/5
7. You Carried Me - Go back more towards RbB and immediately notice the difference. Powerful, with much voice but also a lot of feeling. 5/5
8. Gipsy Girl - In the song I shrugged inwardly together. Not because he was so bad, no, but because he is completely out of place. That's n song for Jennifer Lopez or someone like that. Otherwise, we can only say: Dance number, listenable, wasted Sarah's voice completely. 2/5
9. Heartache On The Dancefloor - And the next dance number. Again listenable, but so slowly it felt so wasted to see hurt Sarah's voice again after all. 2/5
10. Heaven Is A Better Place - Balade. A very good one at that. Sarah can play and her voice is in their element. Great song. 5/5
11. The Distance - Pop / Dance number. As usual: listenable, but complete waste. 2/5
12. Brave - Powerful Balade. Perhaps a little too highly praised by fans, but absolutely one of the better songs. 4/5
---------------------- Here are three cover songs that Sarah has sung in the DSDS broadcasts.
13 Unforgettable 3/5
14. lists 4/5
15. One Moment In Time 4/5
At all three songs can be said that Sarah she performs well, but they act in relation to their live performance somewhat bloodless.
Oh, who now believes a RnB ballads or fan in front of you is mistaken. Usually I hear rock and metal, such as Nightwish, Epica, The Happy or Mortis. This assessment is simply evaluating someone to Sarah's voice very liked and who experienced between enthusiastic and totally disappointed on this album everything.
I wish Sarah does everything good, better luck with the people with whom they cooperate / collaborate and hopefully a better second album for the future. Some songs have indicated what is possible: We want more! As for the rest: so that is nothing.
