I have 5 because of the many positive reviews for the processing of my RAW data for the purchase of DxO Optics Pro Elite decided in addition to Adobe Lightroom. The decisive selling point was the availability of so-called optical modules that can correct based on extensive testing of camera / lens combinations automatically artifacts that are based on well-known figure weaknesses of special cameras and lenses. These include sensor-specific noise, vignetting or chromatic aberrations.
Additional selling point was the presentation of the TIPA Awards in 2013 for Best Photo Software in June this year.
After installing and activating the not exactly inexpensive software - it costs much more than the full version of Adobe Lightroom 5 - came the great disillusionment: My extensive archive of RAW files, which I by default when importing my digital cameras into the DNG format by Adobe convert, could not be read by the software!
After intensive research on the forums turned out that this highly professional software - unlike for example ACDSee Pro or Photo Line - the universal and vendor-independent DNG Adobe does not support. After an appropriate notice in the product description of the manufacturer or down loaded manual before buying I looked in vain - if this evidence exists, it is very well hidden.
In conclusion the software for me is not practical because a flexible editing of my photos on RAW level with Lightroom and DxO Optics Pro 5 is not possible. My desire to bring together the best of both worlds, failed due to lack of DNG support the DxO software. So hot tip for DNG fans - the millions of dedicated amateurs and professionals around the world - about putting it to you exactly, if you really want this software! The software will mE reasons of business policy your DNG photos not edit!
My personal conclusion: A manufacturer of such expensive software with the ambitions of DxO does not want the best for the photographer - but only for themselves, it speaks for itself that the Elite Edition of the software is nearly twice as expensive as the standard edition.. The functionality is the same - only to owners of semi-professional or professional cameras for the same performance twice about paying as much as owner of a consumer camera. My applause for this business policy!
