Among the writers of crime novels, there are good writers, as in any literary style, there are some very good writers, and then there are the exceptions: the very great writers. Of these writers that make the thriller is not the poor child of literature but an art to be taken seriously. Dennis Lehane belongs to the handful of great writers of black novels. Everything is there! Searched for characters, a heavy atmosphere, a dazzling style, suspense, a true story, plot twists, a novel that will crescendo into violence ... No complaints. That's very good. In a completely different style than the other book I had read it and had me glued to the intelligence of construction (but that seems to share in his work), I mean Shutter Island, one feels totally immersed in this neighborhood for violence. A neighborhood where children will grow up together and become cops and some other thugs.
