The tracks in detail
Tarot Woman - 5:58
A synthesizer opens the album with an initially peaceful and mystical melody. Toward the end, the Synhesizer rears (similar to a swelling organ), before the monotonous staccato riff of Blackmore opened the piece. The uniform, jerky striking the same guitar-side in connection with the synthesizer sound layer and the whipping forward drums create a press ends rhythm on which singer Dio can really let off steam. By imploring, almost tumbling song he talks about a card reader. The highlight of the tracks will then each other running solo of guitar and keyboard and the last verse, in which the piece again right picks up speed.

Run with the wolf - 3:40
Something gemählicher it is then with the second piece that could be the Estonians called mid-tempo Stampfer. Drums and bass play a recurring rhythm, while in the background wafts a keyboard soundscape. Again, the solo - this time very worn - the highlight. In addition to the vocal performance by Dio understood.

Starstruck - 4:05
After two rather serious and dramatic numbers, goes "Starstruck" a very different path. A fleet-footed rock number, in which singer Dio from his usual Text schema (In fantasy poetry dressed metaphors) deviates. Here he sings a - shall we say - annoying lady. A beautiful text, which invites you to smile: If I'm high on a hill, She will quietly be looking down at me (...) I could fly to the moon, But she'd soon find a way to be there. I never knew for a while, indeed, a smile made 'em really care. She wants a souvenir
To everyone it's clear. She's hooked, one look. She wants a photograph, And everybody laughs but not me, 'cause I see, She's creeping like a hungry cat, lakes it before and I know it can mean that.
Musically a crunchy rock number that by Cozy Powell's work on drums wins a special dynamic.

Do you close your eyes - 2:58
Each milestone album somewhere a song that can not quite keep the large class of other tracks on the album. This brief rock n roll number with a slight glam impact this number is set to "Rising". Nice, pleasant and not negatively striking - but not to compare with the other 5 songs.

Stargazer - 8:26
The epic of the plate. A fast-paced drums intro passes into a oppressive rock Stampfer. The long piece impressed not only by the hypnotic melody, but above all by his arrangement. Bass, drums and guitar fire oppressive riffs in the stomach of the listener, while in the background Keyboard and string ensemble practically playing against classical rock band a hypnotic, classic look melody. This shows once again how lucky Rainbow with Dio had: only a strong, comprehensive voice several octaves can work with such a sound wall. With fervor he keeps his voice was clear when the instruments high play more dramatic.
Actually, more than 5 points - one of the best rock songs that were ever written.
A Light in the black - 8:11
Rainbow today praised often times as the ancestors of Metal music. Although Rainbow probably looked more as a rock band, so is their significance for the Metal music on this album especially the epic "Stargazer" and the final "A Light in the Black" significantly. The fast-paced rock track supplies with a thunderous rhythm, the catchy riff and the "around each other-Gekreise" of guitar and keyboards in the extended solo the basis for subsequent exploits other metal legends. A worthy conclusion of a completely convincing album.

Conclusion
Only a few albums all true - songwriting, production, cover artwork, instrumentalist / vocals. But "Rising" is one of those few albums. One of the best guitarists of rock and one of the best singers in rock are here on their creative and strongest phase - supported by a strong backing band. "Rising" is simply a musical work and usually for me the best work that Dio has ever finished with his voice (and as we know he has some strong albums refined).
