James Blunt has always been a bone of contention. Some, like me, love him, others call him the British Heulboje. The more I am pleased that the reviews here are all very positive. His new album is again typical James Blunt, and who liked his previous songs, here can safely access. Who before did not like him, will then probably not still do it ... it 'howling' he fortunately still too much. After all, he and his writing and singing style has its credit, probably anyone who tries nachzusingen his songs would sound just ridiculous ...
... Except for Dean Martin. Dino makes everything better.
James Blunt's handwriting can also be seen, and his vocal lines were indeed complex, but all of his melodies of this album are smooth and imprint themselves immediately. 'Moon Landing' sounds unlike his previous albums of modern, and a certain 'modernity' takes place almost as a concept through the entire album, with the song 'Satellites' this as a whole summarizes best. With 'modern' I mean also that he was partly inspired by the sound of the Arrangement also become modern Poptrend, and as in 'Bonfire Heart' simply omits the snare and replaces them with the bass drum. Yes, the cracker 'Bonfire Heart' is for me one of the weaker stocks, although this does not mean that I think he's bad, he is for me just a little ... * to * simple.
He also relies increasingly on electronic sounds, which one of my favorites, 'The only one', but are more than good. I can just say 'Bones', a song full of power and very sympathetic lyrics. Confusing maybe is the sound recording of a level crossing at the end of the song, which so far little confused me with a train and drive. Maybe it fits so well because you look as lively feel in the chorus, as if you narrowly escaped a passing train in the car.
Nevertheless, still resonates in almost every song a unterschwingliche melancholy with, and for that it needs not at all 'right' ballads like 'Face the Sun', 'Miss America' (in memory of Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse) or 'Sun on Sunday' all wonderful, but only a few lines from 'Always hate me', which awaken in an unsightly ideas on uncomfortable meeting with ex-partner (pause) n.
Furthermore, worth mentioning would be the question of whether the three extra tracks are worth the additional cost of the Deluxe Edition? Alone thanks 'Hollywood' definitely, the song is now become one of my favorite numbers. A cool Kopfnicker number, and you will not get rid of the notion that Adam Levine also could sing the song. And if 'Postcards', a cheerful upbeat number with ukulele like, which is also likely to 'Telephone' like, in which the comparison with a cell phone, of course, all sorts of puns (Charge me up, turn me on, I love it When You Use Me All Night Long) permits :)
Quite it then but not enough for me for the five-star, even though I have been one of the lucky 500 who could find an autographed photo of him in the Photobook edition of the album, which almost bribed me to the top rating. On the next album I get determined no photo. Unfortunately suffers from his album, like the previous, from the problem of uneven mixing. James Blunt loves it as the highlight of a song a lot of instruments reinzuhauen, plus the sound technically difficult Guitar and unfortunately just sounds too vague and mushy in his recordings in most cases. This does not stand out from the speakers of a smartphone, but under any other listening situation at a somewhat higher volume me this is noticed always unpleasant. One finds this even with many other modern titles, but the songs considered in an audio editing program, one recognizes the fact nothing more than the so-called 'sound sausage'. Check it by and you know what I mean. And although 'Moon Landing' is the first album by him, to which I invariably every song has immediately fallen, so then the * one * or the * I do not have but two * songs that * well done an album for me only correctly * have.
... In addition, the inserted laugh at 'Satellite' (at 2:11) kind of creepy. Just as clowns. The are too.
Finally, I can only repeat what I already said at the beginning: Who liked him so far, can also access here without hesitation and will find a class album. I too will access blindly at his next. Hopefully again with signed photo.
