Since my first Flogging Molly concert (2003) I'm waiting on a live recording, which reflects the mood and explosive stage presence of the band.
With "Live at the Greek Theatre", the group released a box that almost meets all expectations: 2 Live CDs and a live DVD, and of a unique band.
The vision and sound carriers:
Recorded the concert on 12 September 2009 at the Greek Theatre / Los Angeles has. Perhaps a somewhat poorly chosen place for a DVD recording, since due to the seating Not nearly as much action is required, such as at a concert in a standing room-hall or on an open-air grounds. However, that does not detract from the mood, occasionally found but some Circle pits.
The CD sound is clear, and except for a few little things when mixing and mastering in order.
The sound of the DVDs is in my opinion a little better, but this is lie with the speaker system. In the audio options you have the option of selecting between stereo and Dolby 5.1.
The screen shots were made with more than 10 cameras, and this of course in HD, for a razor sharp image.
Flogging Molly present themselves at the more than 90-minute recording as usual playful band, one can point out every member as it clearly has fun. In their stage show they rely less on effects, they focus primarily on the things they are good at: playing and spreading mood! Between songs there is a short break, in which singer Dave only takes a short time, sometimes to take a sip from his can of Guinness, and to announce the next song. I also think that the band despite shutting off the closeness to the audience searches, this is particularly evident after the concert, where they do not just go off the stage, but takes more time for the fans, while shaking countless hands and distributes other souvenirs ,
As bonus material there are still 7 music clips, and an interview with bassist Nathan and accordion player Matt.
You come so fully at its expense, with the price for this box is also kept very fanfreundlich.
For song selection I just have to say I was pretty disappointed that it did not seem to manage the program a few songs, including. "Black Friday Rule", "Selfish Man" and especially me missing "Screaming at the Wailing Wall." But otherwise the selection is fully okay.
Conclusion: great publication in very good quality at a friendly price - strike all reasons! And anyone who Flogging Molly has (at least) once experienced live is access anyway!
