In addition to the larger screen, especially the passive 3D technology of the Sony was a motive for the purchase and that's where I was the unit not be disappointed. Thanks Triluminos Sony conjures really pretty colors on the display of really pretty to be regarded and well-made TVs. And the 3D function is not to be compared with the shutter technique from 2010. The picture here is much brighter and the annoying flickering of the shutter glasses is in polarization and no longer exists. That the 3D glasses that are used for the Sony, do not need batteries and a lot less expensive than shutter glasses should be clear to everyone. I'm incredibly happy!
So why only three stars?
Because the device is by no means perfect. The colors and the picture itself are very good, the sound is okay and the processing and the materials of the device are great. I'm counting here the simplicity out what bothers me. Ultimately, it is potential buyers to do it which is annoying. How great the device is, you can can also tell of sellers in the store)
- The unit shows clear Clouding in the corners. Maybe you can hit or miss with the respective batch, but my panel is concerned ... and that clearly! Although not to the extent that I would exchange the TV, but I am there, I think, not so picky.
- The device is streaming his image NOT to mobile devices. Short time in the kitchen or bathroom break the current movie on your tablet or smartphone is not keep watching it (even though Sony has proven with the PS4 that they can actually). So still applies: TV is watched on the device. If you can live with it okay. However, other manufacturers offer this function in partially. Too bad Sony!
- The operation is evaluated in many tests as less than optimal. That's right! The menu structure is ... let's say ... "interesting". A frenzied drama is not at least the training period in the Sony takes significantly longer than I've ever been accustomed to a TV there.
- (! Actually a double negative) The built-in media player of Sony does not play DTS !!! Or. he plays it, but sends only a stereo signal to the AV receiver. Sony established the best of my knowledge so that movie files with DTS sound track were illegally taken from the net. That there are quite people with many Bluerays who do not want to have everything flying around in the living room and where a digital version of the film is just a lot of comfort in the movies, is swept under the carpet here. Who converts its digital film collections and thereby relies on DTS, has an external media player set to deliver its system with surround sound here.
A few other little things that are not tragic, but worth mentioning:
- I hang my TV in a master / slave power strip. Go to the TV, media player & Co. are turned on automatically. With such power strips to provide a yes a power threshold, turn on the slave sockets if exceeded. Just stupid, that the Sony be panel switches off briefly when switching to another tuner while consuming as little power as if it were on stand-by ... The result can be imagined; all other devices go out (and remain there due to the excessively rapid off / on-change often). The Sony can with the best will not be accused of, was for me but somehow stupid.
- If too high, too low, or too far laterally seated in 3D mode, the quality suffers significantly! That is, especially in polarization technique normal, you should have before purchasing but perhaps himself tested times.
- Quickly By zapping is not the strength of Sony's (at least for digital channels); you have to wait for the screen each time you change channels first before you can continue to zap.
