I wanted a possible high-quality and durable kettle where the water with as little plastic comes into contact, and the addition of course can also quickly bring water to a boil. My requirements were only partly fulfilled.
Let's start first of all, even with a few numbers.
The scale starts at the Skyline 0.5 L.
To 0.5 L to heat cold water from the tap, the Skyline takes 1 minute and 10 seconds.
The maximum fillable amount indicated on the scale with 1.6 L.
For this amount of water, the Skyline takes 3 minutes and 50 seconds.
On this point, I was really very pleasantly surprised the skyline. Compared to my predecessors, that is an extreme improvement.
When pouring the water also no drop formation takes place. This is not a matter of course, as I had already experienced at so some models.
Let's talk about processing of the kettle.
I could tell at the Cromargan surface, no scratches or discolored areas. The mirror was so immaculate. Water stains can incidentally easily be polished from the surface.
The plastic field affects quality but slightly oversized for my taste.
The grip is very good in the hand, but can the plastic squeeze something.
The cover seems a bit fragile and has quite a bit of play when it is folded up in the open state. In a direct comparison here makes the Advanced Metal kettle of Gastroback a better figure. Here nothing wobbles on the lid.
What strikes me as a little odd, are embedded in the bottom two LEDs in addition to the protection from the hot water with a plastic cap were sealed. Since she is in me of course the question whether it was really necessary to block two LEDs. Had this can not be built into the large disk with the scale? The water would then determined not shone so beautiful but it would then just not come in direct contact with the two plastic plugs.
When filling quantity of 1.6 liters, the water then comes additionally in contact with the plastic which forms the mount for the scale filter.
However, I could personally see no plastic taste in the heated water!
The functioning of the skyline should be mentioned that the position of the ON / OFF switch during the heating process does not change when the cover is opened or the kettle is removed from the socket.
With the lid open and when placed back on the base, it sets the cooking process continues normally.
All in all, the Skyline is a very good figure, if one takes only the pure performance with respect to the cooking water to the foundation.
The situation is different but if you're looking for a kettle, which manages with as few plastic and is also processed as high quality. Both encounters the Skyline unfortunately only conditionally.
The large viewing window and the LEDs in the ground with their plastic covers me personally a bit too much of a good thing.
In addition, making the cover and the handle, not the most solid impression.
I've seen better at Gastroback for example.
what I like:
- Brings water really quickly to the boil
- Fits comfortably in your hand
- Like the design when the Cromargan is also stain-free
- Does not drip
I do not like:
- Cover is very fragile
- Plastic handle are in print for something
- For my taste too much plastic in direct contact with boiling water
- Cromargan surface very susceptible to stains
