Garmin:
1. General: works perfectly since the first application. After 4 years there have been the first drop outs, the individual tours were not recorded or incomplete. After firmware update then easily again.
2. Training functions: I do not use, I could confidently do without it.
3. Recording: for training diary indispensable - all relevant data available.
4. Navigation: "classic" I use only in exceptional cases (I'm in A navigate me to B). The most common variant routing: I put previously determine how I want to go and create a route on the PC. The will be played and worn on the Garmin, including turn directions. Very useful in foreign territory. As a basis, I suppose, for example, tracks from GPSies. Then the burrows as itinerary, works better to use than the track itself.
The map display I use only in exceptional circumstances because the display is very small already. When turning or crossing but very helpful.
Battery life: far enough (up to 13 h), still got the first original battery in use.
Pulse: working properly - barely dropouts or interference, 1 o 2 changed the battery.
Cadence: initially used, eventually decommissioned. When I wanted a second inserting gabs plenty of problems during installation.
Conclusion: not very cheap but for me meaningful part. Much will now also covered by smartphone apps. But I use still the Garmin. He is a true outdoor device as opposed to most smartphones.
