The SX280 HS should show me at what stage a current of Canon's compact superzoom cameras, compared to my Lumix LX5. My review is colored by my experiences / habits with the Panasonic LX5. Canon SX280 HS: -no fast lens -partially amazingly ineffective image stabilization -indoors need a flash be used (I'm used to a fast lens, limitations of Bildomposition inevitably result -Easy muddy pictures on cloudy days and indoors when the flash is disabled. But the use of a camera flash is often unfit for capturing the moods. -no RAW. This just for completeness) -heavy than my Panasonic + Large zoom range and in some cases remarkably good results in maximum zoom position + Less noise at eg. ISO 800 than I know of the LX5 (photograph black areas ...) + Faster than the menu of LX5 + GPS
I realize that I compare cameras from different price ranges. However, the SX280 HS is a few years younger than the LX5 and Canon's just happens to Canon and makes known to be very good cameras. But for this you have to but probably significantly more money pushing over the counter ...
