I had since 2004 a Pentax Optio 5i with associated housing - super easy to use, insert and maintain. For the O-ring of the case there was nowhere replacement, the camera had now already slight aging. Before never had any problems, and the maintenance of housing did not bother me.
SeaLife DC 1400 HD. The camera corresponds to an "ordinary" digital camera and is very easy to use. The diving and Schnorchelmodi can be set via a quick start with 2 button presses (ready to load them into the housing). Quality of images (above and below water!) And even videos is very good. Ton also. So I am very satisfied. That I did not expect anything else.
Underwater housing. It is positive that the camera can be easily inserted and removed. Inserting, close, strap, finished. Allow to dry, open, camera out, ready. The large keyboard next to the display is also very pleasant and easy to operate. Here you can hike, when the camera is inserted, turn on the "underwater mode" within a few button pushes from "above water" (in theory).
That's it for now :-(
Because of the movement of the camera within the menus then you need the push button on the front, with the one comes in theory by pushing left and right through the menu system. None. The zoom button "scraped" already while trying in the hotel rooms very slow and cumbersome, but nothing was moving in the camera screen even with numerous sliding tests. Camera removed again. The zoom button without camera moves until a normal fluid movement was it. Camera inserted - lo and behold: it was also the menu. But only until the next attempt on the boat. Then it was again not possible, let alone to move in the menu to zoom.
When inserting the camera you have to make sure that the push button of the housing in the middle position, so that the push button of the camera fits snugly. But even that did not change the slow creaking in the housing and the non-adjustable menus ...
The Trigger. Also a huge downside. After all, next to the Zoom is the most important to a case. Extremely slow and cumbersome. One has the button for a long time very deep impressions - but says times a fish that he should please keep quiet. I (trigger one time = 3 photos) the camera mode to continuous shooting after the first snorkel set, so at least I have a chance for a few good shots ...
I was very annoyed at the holiday about my new purchase to use. For (almost) the same money I'd better buy a new digital camera plus a matching underwater housing another company. The reviews on the internet as well as the recommendation in the dive shop but all went to SeaLife 1400 HD. Goofy.
