Carrera 20062288 - Go PoliceCheck, car (toy)

Customer Review

Please note:
even if it is (almost) for illuminated car looks on the package:
it is only the blue light which lights up in the right place, nothing else!
-------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------
Every December we see helpless parents or grandparents before the countless colorful Carrera boxes are.
We wanted just then, so here is my attempt some help and guidance in the selection and purchase decision to give.

************************************************** **************************************************
What you but definitely for going into Carrera world should be clear from the outset is:
the purchase of a basic package is usually just the beginning of the story, which is offered every year for Christmas at discounters like with Märklin Railway-basic sets. By what has been bought since one is unfortunately very short satisfied, because in the long run it will quickly dull a brief and boring train always to drive around in circles.
So you have even more money for upgrades in your hand in order to avoid that the basic set gathering dust in the basement already 3 days after Christmas. That's part of the manufacturers but also so provided, keyword "repeat business", because then only really money.

Speaking discounters:
There are Christmas often these NoName Super Cheap racetracks, our child was 3 years ago as a gift from the Relatives as a set. The part was brought back before New Year's Eve, which was the flop of the year, I have rarely seen such a unplayable factory fresh garbage. It acquires here ancient, dying boring and primitive analog technology that can be expanded in any way before I'd spend on something money rather make a small fire with the bills or donate the dough.
******************************************************************************************************************

Man (n) knows Carrera often from their own youth, think of the almost indestructible, simple, solid, cast-iron carriage with the spring-loaded copper sheet sanders and the rails with the 3-wire system.
Everything was still "Made in Germany" and therefore cost you money. Accessories there was relatively little and the analog track quickly became very boring if you (without overtaking) of the basic package turned only on the short standard 8 his rounds.

Today, however, there are several racetrack systems with the famous Carrera lettering on it:
Carrera GO
Carrera Digital 143
Carrera Evolution
Carrera Digital 132
Carrera Digital 124

(This sequence is priced from "cheap" to "expensive" in ascending order).
All modern Carrera variants are completely since circa 1999 "Made in China"
"Made in Germany" there is no longer here a long time.

The main differences are as follows:

Carrera GO:
-----------
-max. 2 drivers possible
This is a small world of its own, combined with virtually nothing of the larger series, the small beginner track with small cars for small children for the small price. The rails are only approx. 11cm wide, so about half of the large Carrera tracks. The cars fit in the width just as on the web, so it's really very close to the race. You can not set maximum speed or braking force, only in exceptional cases with partial illumination of vehicles, you can not change the track even if you will not recharge, etc ..
Is just the old analog technology with which one can self-regulate and control anything except the running speed, of course.
Although Carrera is very large front it, but whoever here therefore expects the good old solid Carrera Quality guaranteed disappointed.
That's for the little price just is not there.
While there are loops, jumps and the like., So all the action stuff what the little ones fully depart, but also often disappointed and frustrated quickly because the are not so in reality works as intended. Also, it does not create long to pass through these loops each GO-Car. And the X-change lanes, intersections and Engstellenschienen example are veritable material killer because the cars may come crashing down badly in every round if you do not very careful. The course is not so connected as digital by the driver but the car switch forcibly and automatically track.
What the small GO drivers are also often overwhelmed:
these so-called hard to traveling where the cars are a tight 180 ° -Kehre go almost vertically up the wall. flyover hairpin bends.
Here again threatens frustration danger. We could our child then explain that this entire GO Special Stunt Accessories stuff
actually only in advertising is great to attract that small children. After that, the GO was no longer an issue, and we went straight on to the Digital 132.
Another problem: when the GO cars can not so sensitive throttle as with the D132 / 124 cars. Consequently, the web is a bit difficult to drive for the children. Some GO customers report here yes by a virtually non-metered flat-out driving experience because the regulator so bad address that you travel either too fast or too slow.
Frustrating result: the cars are flying out and / or do not provide complete round at a time.

Carrera Digital 143:
--------------------
-max. 3 drivers possible
-gleiche rails and same car size as in GO
-Most cars also without lighting
-Much less rail variants (curves!) to choose from as in the larger digital systems
-There is a switchable (!) X-Soft
BUT: there is a halfway house from GO and Digital 132/124 has the 143 a little bit of both,
is therefore a very easy jazzed GO but also not very long is fun because it lacks too much of its big brothers.
Here should quickly come up the desire for a "real" large Carrera as D132 or D124.

Since the GO 143 and Digital are both small paths for young children (and children are indeed swiftly larger)
is therefore very limited, the effective usage time. I would say at best, 2 years, when the web ever survived so long.
Then you can Carrera technically again start all over again and this time to invest in the large systems.
With a D132, however there is also a teenager or adult still a lot of fun, and you can here a speed limit
Set for each vehicle, thereby the kids are not overwhelmed and frustrated at the start.
If you dominate the track has a lot expanding air upwards.
Our child has the D132 terms with his time a little over 8 years now and without any problems, the Control Unit with their
many setting was no obstacle, quite the contrary. The kids makes it even today a lot of fun to reprogram the cars.
For D132, there is incidentally also child-friendly vehicles such as the "Cars" models, so you need not necessarily buy extra for a GO.
So you could be a future-proof and versatile extensible D132-basic set with Control Unit for sale, has thus then teach even later all expansion options, plus 2 "Cars" cars for the youth to and everyone is happy.
Little irony aside: there are people who think that the GO is rather for adults, because these get along better with the arising problems and peculiarities of this system as little children.
The D132 and D124 larger contrast prepare children usually fewer problems
since they are easier to handle and less susceptible to interference.

Carrera Evolution:
------------------
-max. 2 drivers possible
bigger cars and more tracks than with GO and D143, but unfortunately without any lighting. This is the old simple analogue technology, is building which is almost equal with Digital 132 complies, from the play facilities but the level of 40 years ago, which is deadly boring in record time. While you can upgrade to digital, but that is only conditionally and not worth even mostly. Since you can instead also skip right directly at Digital 132/124.
In addition, you can with a digital 132/124 also sometimes play analogy, if one prefers, to simply remain as before, each driver in its wake and to play without tank function. Then you have classic Slotracing as then.
The rails are the same as for D132 and D124, but have a somewhat different and old connection technology.
It is slightly more expensive than the GO, but much cheaper than the big digital tracks. From the play value produces only a small flash in the pan, nearly all serious disadvantages the GO can also be found here. Carrera Evolution is also the oldest series in the current Carrera range, there is since 1998th
My advice: better stay away, so that one is not really happy.

Digital 132:
------------------
max. 6 riders in the D132,
the rails are the same as in evolution, rd. 20cm wide, extra margins for road widening are outside in the curve very advisable since the cars otherwise on the guard rails "lean" or the barriers and sand down the paint itself. You can change lanes or overtake as you want as long as digital switches were installed, program the top speed ever car, adjust tank capacity and braking power,
almost all cars are front and rear lights (with tail and brake light), the light can be switched on and off on the trigger;
you can play much more realistic, (theoretically unlimited number!) against one or more Ghost Cars with electronic tank function which randomly change lanes (each Ghostcar speed you can set yourself), installing a starting lights, block variable curve radii, it gives safety car and pace car, etc. etc ..
Course costs therefore also a multiple of a Go-Start sets.
The imagination is the only through the purse and the available space limits.
Digital 132 has the largest selection of vehicles in total in the Carrera World.

Digital 124:
----------------
The "Champions League" for adults in the prime of life with a lot of space and money; o)

officially to 4 riders at D124 with original transformer (with greater extra-DC power supply 6 but drivers are also possible here as a transformer substitute);
the rails and the track itself is identical to the D132, (the voltage is different, however: D132 has a 14.8 V, the D124 a 18V transformer) the cars are considerably heavier, bigger and especially wider.

Dimensions D124 example Ferrari 458 GT2 (LxWxH):
200 x 85 x 50mm, weight 243g

ditto in D132.:
140 x 65 x 35mm, weight 107g

Therefore adjust as the GO just as on the slopes, expensive extra edge strips for road widening are therefore absolutely indispensable; D132er cars have on the other hand on both sides about one inch of space on the track since they are a bit smaller.
Digital 124 unfortunately also needs most of the space of all Carrera race track systems by the de facto border strips duty:
20cm gauge + edge strips on both sides = 40cm total width of the road !!
One D124-basic package includes next to the railway and edge strips for curves, together with the more expensive cars driving course this the package price significantly higher.

A D124 car is technically even a different class than a D132er, but how do I find certain disadvantages:

-When Price:
the Ferrari 458 GT2 above costs in D124 to the 70, -,
in contrast, D132 45, - to 50, -

-eingeschränkte vehicle selection: for D124 has one of all Carrera series
the smallest selection. Is in prices but again gently for Budget; o).

-The D124 cars ride also quite different from a D132, they are somewhat portly and need correspondingly long distances in order to really get going. Assuming a 124er to the slopes this affects a whole number smaller and shorter.

-through the vehicle width, it is not safe to overtake in curves in head to head races. If the inside of the curve vehicle with the tail swings outward during speed past, it pushes against the neighboring vehicle and this can push off the track

************************************************** ****************************************
Cool Papa + Sohn game idea (going so unfortunately only with D132 and Control Unit) in the style of "On the Highway is hell breaks loose":
you can buy an additional D132-police car to the track, programmed this as Ghostcar and plays really chase with 3 vehicles.
Especially departed comes that if you additionally fueled evening in dimly lit rooms with the vehicle lights and the also fully lighted police car with flashing lights on the runway.
Result: the Christmas Eve is scratched, the child shines: o).
A beautiful and interesting alternative to normal racing conditions.
************************************************** ****************************************

What I can only advise everyone:
Carrera sets with Formula buy 1 car, these things break down constantly in record time by numberless and filigree Spoiler poultry, of course, even without any lights, this ultra-light cars also have a more powerful engine in it than most DTM cars and are therefore in the scene called "ground missiles". It just annoying animal if after each departure partly tiny spoilers have to be detected and tuned reinserted. And without spoiler look at the car from quite modest ....

Conclusion:
======
Carrera GO Carrera technically a dead end, only useful if very young children, little space and INVESTMENT willingness exist. With tears and frustration experiences can be expected. This can also be explained if one only looks at times the prices for the price of a single D132 or D124 racer you get at the GO a complete system. The GO is purely a gateway drug, a door opener to his first presence in the nursery for Carrera. Not very durable, very cheap, and they will someday lead to the larger Carrera tracks.
Only conditional purchase recommendation from me.

Digital 143 is as already written above, unfortunately, not as the truth: a disguised Toddlers Carrera with a tiny pinch of digital technology. It is missing too much of the potential for D132 / D124.
No buy recommendation on my part.

Evolution: too little play and expansion options, here you have very quickly fed up.
No buy recommendation on my part.

D132 is for me the best system with almost all options

D124: Here you need not necessarily expensive to edge strips because the cars are so broad, the D124-cars are the most expensive Carrera models. D124 also has the smallest range of cars as this series is aimed more at adults, collectors and enthusiasts. This clientele is indeed financially strong, but also quite manageable. D124 is more intended for the really big boys, only here there are therefore limited precious startup sets with edge strips, wireless radio controllers and pretty scantily clad girls on the start bar for the slack starting price of approx. 500, -.
D124 is the most expensive way to drive Carrera. The whole Carrera accessories such figures and buildings are 1:32 scale, so watch to D132 and evolution, but unfortunately not the biggest Carrera D124.
D124 has "only" about 10% share of the overall Carrera race track offer, therefore plays a leading role.

Good Advice:
==========
One should start to a good basic set ausstaffiertes (necessarily with Control Unit, which is the latest and most versatile control unit) looking, preferably with 2 points. All you still need an extra rebuy is relatively expensive, what you are is already included in the basic pack to get cheaper overall away.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why is this Control Unit so important?
That is because:
the black box is really not recommended the outdated predecessor of the Control Unit.
Basic Sets with this black box still comes in part from 2008 (!). The current Control Unit has more options and is clearly
easier to use. Apparently the best available room D132 sets you should take a closer look, these are usually older date with Blackbox, hence the lower price.
The new 2015er-D132 sets now have all the newer Control Unit with this, so the old black box dies soon anyway from.
The whole digital accessories you can even partially connected to the old black box, in the Control Unit, there are no restrictions.
The Control Unit is practically the heart and brain of the entire system, is with her and drops the whole game through.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Will you have to go to three or four of you to buy yet Cars 2 plus 2 control / handle, these 4 parts alone is up to 200, - cost extra.
Depending on where, when and what you buy, you can get eg reduced Car Sales, then it will be a little cheaper.
So you can consider and recalculate whether it is worthwhile to buy a suitable second basic set this compared with the single purchase.

But also wants to be well thought out with more than 2 cars in a relatively short basic package track to drive. More cars on the track need correspondingly more space = Track length if you do not want to constantly interfere with each other to.

But too long a distance is not really a good idea, as you so less exciting duels / race situation has if any quasi breaks forth alone in front of him because the web is so vast. We have vs. our current path. the predecessor reduced by 25% and the drive has become much more interesting.
The train was interesting and varied driving, clearly, not too long and not too short.

A basic package is the price-performance ratio almost a bargain; is here as in the model railway.
Each basic package track no matter how long, but quickly become boring because you drive only one and the same radius of curvature, namely the standard curve 1/60, this is in every basic set heaps with it.

We have our path now expanded to over 20m, with opening and closing curves, chicanes, crossing for the purpose of path length compensation, Wireless + controllers, tank function by Pitlane, Driver displays, position-tower lap counter, Start Light, DC power supply to alternately D132 and D124 with enough power being able to drive, buildings, very many marginal strips, guard rails, etc. All this costs money, of course, really, you should realistically expect at least with 2-3 times the basic sets as an investment, or the basic set-Christmas fun is boring very quickly.
To drive Carrera is generally not a cheap hobby.

Please not to difficult to moving from the fall and desolate 1/60 curves + Standard straights impressively assembled "extension sets" in the online auction, which is a common mistake for beginners is then also happened to me. The 1/60 curves are like salt: a pinch of it makes the track interesting, but too much of it spoils the whole fun.
This curve parts therefore you get too often for 2, - / pcs. practically nachgeworfen.
Such extension sets originate usually from people who have clever to buy a matching extra starter to arrive so cheaper cars, knob, switch or Control Units. But there are also dealers disassemble the starter sets and the parts to sell separately to make more sales.
These above standard rails are practically worthless "Slaughterhouse waste" that can still resell as individual do not need. So you put it for example to park gyros with driveway or as "spin exchange" together, it looks great at first glance from. But in days considered a real shot in the oven, because it buys only back what one has indeed already more than enough, that make unpopular rails which no real driving pleasure.
Then instead prefer to buy such as a pack curve 2/30, 3/30 or 4/15, which brings a lot more driving pleasure.

When Carrera beginners usually one thinks so, route is route and rail track. But That's not, there are boring stretches and standard rails as they occur in the starting sets. See this "square" and the non-circular orbits at first glance not so bad, barren but very quickly because it is always repeated: curve follows a straight line and back, followed by curve etc .. The curve parts are in the basic package routes but always the same, so the attraction is lost very quickly.
Therefore, the advanced Carrera drivers build their "round" tracks without this 1 / 60th-curve parts (which are in the Carrera scene even more unpopular than athlete's foot), or only with extremely few pieces and instead take different parts of the curve with varying radii. This must be every curve different approach, one must also slow down time, or out accelerating out of the bend and can not simply turn his rounds flying blind at a constant speed. This is the attraction of the Carrera Drive and keeps the hobby in the long run interest.

Topic Wireless + -Funkregler:
----------------------------------------
they are in principle already advantageous, especially when you have a bigger track, as you run to his car out flown with the pusher in hand, use it and then immediately can drive again. Since these things really make sense in a small basic package route, however you have to think it over. Of course, it is really great when you can stand up to the wireless handle where you like instead stubbornly hanging on the line.
If you buy the wireless + in a basic set you save even something in the aftermarket are otherwise for about 90, - extra paid.
Warning: it should "+ Wireless" necessarily the latest. The old, not recommended, wireless controllers operate with infrared technology, such as the remote control for the TV. Recognizable by the thick IR Knubbel on Reglerfuß and the IR receiver in the form of a motor oil bottle.

Important:
a Carrera track should not ever break down on you and that is rather unhealthy for the rail material is especially true
for small and sensitive and D143 GO trains. Conversions should be made with caution and a lot of feeling.

Also still important:
-öfters times with a slightly damp chamois leather (without cleaning agents) clean / dusting the train. Very positive, it is a week with a vacuum cleaner and a furniture brush suck times the distance, otherwise the car operate itself as a vacuum cleaner and pollute excessively inwardly

-The grinder of cars want to be cared for and monitored from time to time it is necessary to renew the sometimes when they are worn to avoid malfunctions

after a period of time it takes the car suddenly stopping short / slow down the drive before that. This is often the fact that on the stainless steel conductors of the rails a kind of patina has formed.
Thus, the current flow is deteriorated.
Remedy: Wipe with cotton pads and a little Ballistol gun oil, the current conductors

-The tire rejoice when they are withdrawn with carpet tape, which increases grip.
Simply take a supernumerary, old or broken rail, the left and right of the slot stick double-sided tape, then the
Slowly forward / upward push car in direction several times and be amazed what's so coming down.
Previously, of course remove the upper protective foil from the adhesive tape; o).
Alternatively: a role wide Tesa Tape take (no brown parcel tape), unroll about 5cm, backward place around the roller so that the sticky side facing outward, and then clean the tires directly to the role.
So make the most of Carrera drivers because that is the easiest and quickest method.

-Digitalweichen Should not be installed directly behind a curve, because the car so often can not meet the diode and not turn the switch therefore reliable. Therefore always better davorsetzen a standard line.

PS:
Who wants to put some of Carrera under the Christmas tree should not wait too long. Christmas comes faster than you think.
Last year, for example, I wanted about 2 weeks before the hard curve 4/15, order Driver displays and other accessories here. But did not because as almost everything was sold out. I had to unfortunately wait until the parts after a few weeks were available again in the new year.
In addition, prices for Carrera material deduct about 4 weeks before Christmas Eve usually partially clearly. And this higher price level then adheres well into the first quarter of the new year in.
Christmas is the season for Carrera with the most revenue.
Who therefore concerned his article in November already time is out in December relaxed and fine.
From February you can then often re-make a bargain when the cars run out of the previous range and be sold reduced.

Who wants to sell some of Carrera should wait until about the end of November, then increase opportunities and sales proceeds over the annual average.

Advice and assistance on the topic can be found in the relevant Slotterforen the Internet.
