"Catchy Tune Summer"

La Roux (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Recently, while surfing through the net I came across a well-known video site on a video of a certain "La Roux". The name of the song was "Bulletproof" and so on the fast it made while listening to a really good mood. Not without reason was the video linked with the comment "catchy summer tune".

After a little research, I then came across the information that just ranked the song and the album of the group "La Roux" (Elly Jackson, Ben Langmaid) in the UK for some time very far in the charts. Since I was already, as so often disappointed. Because usually it is this: If a track or album in the charts, it's just pop music and pop music is mostly the same as uniformity bring him the big labels in heaps on the market.

Sometimes you will also positively surprised. The whole album sounds very unusual despite suspected and certainly in many respects very strong existing Poppigkeit. Say it is not enough synth and electric included, to be more interesting than the rest. What personally excited (just because I pure and therefore non-melodic electro not like to hear) me is that here and in most songs much melody Song structure is available. One must certainly not be limited to only one dominant motif, but he can also get a tiny "Solo" presents, while still everything unfortunately played too strictly to the beat.

A little annoying is by the very uniform bass and percussion part. Dominant and without mercy, this means pulling through all tracks on the album. The occupation of the instruments himself has reminded me of my C64 / NES / Gameboy times. Where 8 bit retro chic in the electro scene quite to be in again. However, this aspect is probably very dependent on the history of the listener (at least the author of the review rated it as positive and - yes you can with "SNES Dudel sound" solid 7 out of 10 points received).

As a highlight of the album may be called "Bulletproof" quite already called. But my personal favorite is the beautiful face-8 Bittig-melodic "I'm Not Your Toy". Furthermore, one can every once recommended to watch the video called to input. It is reminiscent of a Cubist Fantasy and the fantastic red Locke the singer and her eye makeup should be mentioned as well worth seeing.
