This was in my case, the only solution, because neither a trailer hitch, even a roof rack is present.
For mounting of the support I can not say anything because I've assembled over him by the previous owner. The enclosed instructions could have been really detailed. Adjusting the volume on my car but folded after a brief try without problems.
Otherwise I can however say only positive:
-He Makes a very strong impression, all tensioners and wheel can be operated well and firmly close.
-To Mounting as an individual:
I have to say that even I managed a petite girl alone without any problems, set the carrier on my car and to fix.
Let's be honest: Who wants to use a bike rack (of any kind) alone, who must also be able raufzuheben his own bike alone and fasten. And who can do that, can surely affairs the ten kilos of the wearer.
(In a pinch, you put a piece of wood with an old towel drum under the tailgate so that not snap shut)
-When Mounted carrier (without bikes) I can open the tailgate without problems with this car and they will remain safe in the open position and does not work by itself to. So I can use the luggage compartment with the (empty) carrier. The antenna is not the way.
-In The appropriate setting (Thule recommendation) store the rubber of the support in this vehicle just 3cm below the top edge of the rear window.
The view to the rear is also bicycle plan still relatively good.
I strongly suspect that the rear wiper in my case is still usable, which have not yet been tested.
Scratches I have the first mount any causes, the lower hooks do not touch the bumper when closing.
nevertheless:
-The Tip with the heat shrink tubing as "padding" for the hook is very good. Such a hose does not cost much, it's done quickly and it excludes any risk of scratches from the outset.
-The Bike can be raised to the level of support rails well even by small people. The fixing first with the upper clamps on the frame, then through the loops on the rim goes, quickly and easily.
-I Have my ladies bike (cross bikes) also can fix without problems without a frame adapter, but certainly also depends on the particular frame shape. For the "normal" painted frame padding of Spanner sufficient.
Make sure that no cables are pinched! Possibly mounted bottle holder or frame bags may be the attachment of the way.
-During The trip I noticed nothing negative, a slightly increased fuel consumption, possibly wider vehicle dimensions by the wheels and a limited view to the rear I do not see as a disadvantage of this carrier. Such things you know in advance and they can be avoided in some cases also no support system.
Conclusion:
The ClipOn Thule bike carriers can be attached quickly and easily to the tailgate and remove again. He sits in spite of the simple fastening very stable on the vehicle and also keeps the wheels securely in place.
Also based on the replacement value results in a super value for money, I do not think you get a much better support in this version for more money (tailgate assembly).
I am glad that I chose for this solution and würd him at any time to buy again.
