While Linux nickel while walking, you need under windows (7/8) 2.8.30.0 version of the FTDI drivers, the latest versions do not work with the Nano ... I spent a good big week- end on this trouble there is several weeks.
To save you the trouble:

- Or by browsing the Arduino forums: [...])
So it works perfectly provided you have the right drivers!
Delivery a bit long but in the announced times in a bubble wrap, the microcontroller being protected by an electrostatic protective packaging.
(The USB cable was provided to me!)
