The replacement device should be the same criteria that had been important to us at the Yamaha: compactness, attractive appearance, priced between 300-400 euros.
The overall verdict first: meets all the criteria. What I can praise unreservedly - but a matter of taste - is the design (red and black). No regulator, barely visible buttons. It has a block in front of him, in which the built-in speaker easily radiate outwards. Depth resonances are managed from a slot below the display.
So we come but to sound: completely honest - I had hoped for a little more than you can expect from the little thing. I had the illusion that the same price means approximately the same tonal range. Given the physical differences a total miscalculation. What does that mean?
- Pressure and thus dynamics come only at high volume. Then the part sounds even respectable, but that make the neighbors not permanently with ;-) and whether the final stage the long join in, I doubt.
- At moderate volume, mids and highs come balanced and clear. Radio then fun. But bass frequencies are too weak. Which can then be raised slightly by "D-Bass", but this makes the naturalness broken.
Ultimately, you have to take the compromise, if one opts for ultra-compact size and design. In retrospect, I mourning the old 2x20 watt speakers of the Yamaha after. They may have taken place, but well-defined musical retrieved. Especially in quiet passages there was much more.
Still, not a bad purchase in total. USB player, Timer, RDS Radio, convenient remote control. For the price already inadequate consideration. 4 good honest points.
