Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith come from the town of Bath, Somerset in southwest England and the band name they took the book of an American psychotherapist desssen topics often the basis of their texts were.
The album has its own sound and sound overall a little dark and very melancholic, what if you know that Roland Orzabal processed its not exactly easy childhood Allerd not surprised in the lyrics of "The Hurting".
The big international breakthrough came with the third single "Mad World", which, after all, managed to place 3 in the UK and number 21 in the German charts and also "Pale Shelter" was the second attempt (the good part was actually before " The Hurting "in 1981 released as a single) in the wake of the success of" Mad World "a Top 5 hit in the UK and also reached here in Germany at least place 25th
Also "Suffer the Children" was published in 1981 as a single and the fourth single "Change" ran in the UK with great success (number 4 in the charts), but could not place in this country.
"The Hurting" but of course, much more to offer than these four singles!
The album is also available as complete works quite over höhrenswert and offers the finest guitar and synth-oriented 80s-Pop!
Fortunately, offers us this rerelease the UK number 1 album in addition to the original tracklist also still the same four fine Maxi versions or remixes in the form of long version of "Pale Shelter", the extended version of the non-album tracks "The Way You Are" a single which was released in 1983 for "Pale Shelter" and after all, Top 30 was in the UK, the World remix of "Mad World" and, last but not least, the extended version of "Change", so that the following Tracklist follows:
1 The Hurting 4:19
2 Mad World 3:35
3 Pale Shelter 4:34
4 Ideas As Opiates 3:46
5 Memories Fade 5:06
6 Suffer The Children 3:52
7 Watch Me Bleed 4:17
8 Change 4:15
9 The Prisoner 2:56
10 Start Of The Breakdown 5:01
Bonus Tracks:
11 Pale Shelter (Long Version) 7:09
12 The Way You Are (Extended) 7:44
13 Mad World (World Remix) 3:43
14 Change (Extended Version) 6:00
Klanglisch there is nothing to complain about and also the small but nice booklet with liner notes by Ian Cranna and the lyrics to the album tracks can be quite impressive.
Absolutely outstanding is of course the price-performance ratio, for a price of less than five Euros (as of August 25, 2012) you can of course only be described as a bargain and also the regular price for this release is just under seven Euronen certainly not too high recognized.
From me, there's a full purchase recommendation because Tears For Fears should be part of every well-stocked 80-collection and here you get for little money, a great album in really superb quality!
