Lowepro SlingShot 202 AW SLR Camera Backpack (for SLR with standard lens and 4 extra lenses, flash) (Electronics)

Customer Review

Why a slingshot? Due to several weeks of experience with this type of backpack I'll try an answer to:

- More comfortable to wear than a traditional camera bag, because even just over one shoulder, but by the second belt the weight is better distributed. In my "walks" in Ireland the backpack was still comfortable to wear even after a few hours.

- Due to the second strap also stable to carry, ie where times crawling is also there and so hip, the back will stay firmly on the body.

- Large enough for example, the following photo equipment:
Nikon D5000 with 18-105 [lying together on the due date for the camera space; because of the strength I have the camera with the lens toward the opening inserted], 70-300 [the left of the camera, which had to be moved Stadardeinteilung], Micro 105 [standing right), SB 400 [right before the 105s in its own compartment] , spare batteries and a few filters [the compartment behind the camera]. A compartment for another lens that can be accommodated standing is still free.
A little extra storage space allows you to take away from (really only) small drinks and food. In the patch pockets on the front of mobile, Tempo handkerchiefs and other flat minor can be accommodated. In one of these pockets Pen loops are included.

- Weatherproof due to an integrated rain cover, which is tucked between troublesome back cushion and backpack in dry weather do not (!). Even this can without having to take the backpack from the back are as donned for taking the camera in the same procedure.

- Everything is fast and can be operated with one hand in the access: 1) dissolving the cross-strap 2) to the front of the backpack 3) Pull To access only to the camera, it is sufficient that little (if done correctly) facing up trade [= open side flap of the subject] 4 found) camera. 5) Photo ... 6) - 9) To store the same steps in reverse.
Ie:
The removal and parking on possibly unsuitable ground omitted.
Through external closures compartment is secured against accidental opening the zipper complete and thus falling out of the other valuable things.

To remove the additional lenses or flash, it is however necessary to open the tray on. Ie opening of one or both outer caps and then open the compartment as far as needed to get at the stuff.

Now to my review of Slingshots 202 AW from Lowepro. I had one of BILORA. This I have sold to exchange due to quality defects after only brief use and significantly lower strength than the 202AW again:

- The subdivision options are not quite optimal. The Klettverschlusseinnähungen do not exceed the total length of the field, so that they are just not completely flexibly be set up. The screen dedicated to the camera tray does not constrict. Is in and of itself not a big problem, but you could use the space to the right and left of the housing well otherwise. But: My Nikon is quite wobbly in the big trade, I have therefore tried Enteilung above for locking the cross mounted on the camera lens, but then I decided to put them to the body lying on its side inwards. Since the camera body abuts the top of the tray, it is something stable in the tray.

- I have not standard, the 18-105mm lens on the camera. This camera is so long that the tray with the standardmäig classification laid down is a little too short. That is the case then there is almost on the zipper. I have the division further back, then get but in this subject only my polarizing filter.
Another small drawback is that the right classification is partly under the zipper, so that the removal of eg stored there lens is slightly more difficult.

- The bag is made significantly stronger compared to the Bilora backpack. But it is precisely the strength of the bag allows one-handed operation. When Bilora I had to take to the 2nd hand for opening the zippers. I fortunately still with both hands, but there are situations (if one is shaky, for example, and at least want to secure unpack with one hand), since the one-hand operation is clearly beneficial.

- The attachment for a (small) is not optimal in my opinion stand. These are only a small strap with snap lock. Even with my little Manfrotto tripod I am not reasonably able to fix this so that it remains fixed to the backpack. By the movement while running it begins sooner or later to the slides. Here would be a second belt in the lower third of the backpack side an advantage.

- Appearance: no comment, a matter of taste

- Build quality: Compared with the Bilora significantly better, no problems so far.

- Value: ME fine.

ME very suitable for:
- Short trips in rough, inhospitable terrain, where you can not turn off his camera bag or want.
- City Tours

ME is not suitable for:
- Prolonged walks or excursions (day or overnight trips): The comfort is not the right of a backpack comparable and the subject for more important things for a hike is clearly too small. In addition, starting sometime to sweat on the contact surface.

- Transport of large photographic equipment

For the said purpose but absolutely a Kaufemtpfehlung, albeit by virtue of such sub-optimal solution in classification and Stativverstauung only 4 out of 5 points.
