First of all to my situation: I am an absolute amateur, which the iPhone to take pictures was no longer sufficient and now wanted to buy a proper camera. So I have no plan of any professional field drivel. After I had read me a little and could not make up my mind, I asked a colleague who has the right idea, and he referred me to it here. No sooner said than done, bought. The E-PL5 came and I have tried them equal. The test photos were taken in best sunshine and see fan- there waiting tantamount -tastisch from. Right at the beginning I noticed that the automatic program works great and very beautiful expecting - that was particularly important to me as a beginner. Little by little I have now ventured to me more and more settings manually. Whether it is now up to my inability or the good automatic program I do not know - but the photos do not look particularly different. Often the funny menu is criticized - quite rightly, unfortunately. The grade is really confusing as absolute beginners. Example: The lens has logically also a "focus ring". I wondered how long total nothing happens when you turn it. Nowhere is the menu that the automatic program has no function, since you can not switch from autofocus (S-AF or C-AF) to manual focus (MF). This can only be in the letter-programs P, A, S and M. There are also settings for the entire shorthand - and after I found the menu I never went back. Namely, when pressed in standard display OK can be all it takes to adjust - only much faster and more clearly. To Hardware: top processing, housing has a good grip and will not slip out of your hands. Would hope, however, as an accessory a larger grip, there is not (people with large hands might have their problems with the small camera have). The camera feels very valuable. Perhaps most obvious, I lit it an only now: The part has no viewfinder. That is to say without having to buy the electronic viewfinder to (recommendation of the Internet is the VF-2) - cost point scarce 200-300 - you can only shoot across the screen. And because the Internet is right, sunlight is the heavy. So if you go in the summer you will not lose the investment in the viewfinder around. The attached flash works well, the image quality (I am accustomed iPhone) is great for me! Then keyword battery: So my has not become empty, have been about 500 pictures. It is curious when the time comes. For those who are still keenly interested because of the memory card: The RAW images are approximately 15 MB in size. A normal SDHC just fine to save them quickly.
