Customer Review

I save just once, to respond to all the positive things. The were in other reviews already mentioned all, and I agree with that too broadly. Nevertheless, I am unfortunately a bit disappointed by the new "One". This is mainly due to three points:

Camera
******
The idea already talking about the old one, to reduce the megapixels and have a more light-sensitive optics in return, the riff under lowlight conditions without flash even good results was basically fine. Unfortunately, the whole thing in practice, but even then not really convinced, and it does again today. Then as now, one must be stated that, unfortunately, do competitor devices such as an iPhone 5 / 5S or a Galaxy S4 without the megapixel reduction more or less clearly better images in low light. Although it has become a little better when M8, but the two mentioned competitors can it nevertheless still better. Now, the M8 has indeed a new flash system through which flash images no longer look to "blitz typical". And it works actually very neat. Now you might say that there is so then now is not so bad if the optics less bright than expected, since you can simply take the flash. This is true, but does not consider that this course still remains the problem of low resolution of only 4 megapixels. The images thus have only one physical unwesntlich higher resolution than the display, that is already in the device itself can hardly aufzoomen the images without the low resolution is evident immediately. At the latest when viewing on your PC or on TV because you really want aufzoomen nothing.

Abandoning an image stabilization (whether visually or electronically - there is nothing of the two) makes the whole thing better - quite the contrary.

And for me personally also rips this feature with the subsequently modifiable Focus anything out, because I think this gimmick, I do not need.

Now, of course, be again the "experts" come around the corner and a mantra, "Who needs a camera, is to buy a" hintröten right. Unfortunately, this dullness is by constantly repeating no intelligent piece - on the contrary. Because this argument'd only draw if it otherwise the market would be no smart phones that make it better. The there but just now times unfortunately - they are called iPhone 5, iPhone 5S and Galaxy S4 (and probably now even Galaxy S5). And those are just the ones where I can see it in person, but also where there is more or less concensus among people is the bigger picture has no radius of zero. I like none of these devices, but you have them just simply let that make for Smartphone ratios really good photos, and indeed just as well, and especially where the appearance of both One's should actually points, namely in lowlight.

That this may, perhaps enough of One offered for people who do not have much more than a few Selfies and the images never look elsewhere than in the device itself, may be good. But there are just some people who here have a little bit more demanding, and the reference to it, but then please get a real camera, goes just given the fact that there are quite smart phones out there that are better in this area, into vacancy. I myself, incidentally also a proper digicam (a Canon EOS 70D, so not even a soo cheap). But you will of course not constantly carry around, and ultimately it takes for the occasion Photo between not always the quality of such a camera. But both the old and the new one offered me quality is just far too little, because I know that things can be better.

Size
*****
We come to the second point, the size. My assessment is here admittedly influenced by the completely subjective view, that I - not so really need speakers - no doubt very good sounding. The predecessor was in spite of the place needed for the speakers still well in hand and could be quite easily operated with one hand. This is no longer the case. But I am well aware that the speakers ultimately a piece of wide represent a unique selling point, and here I would then the argument "If you do not need buy just something else" also quite accept. If there were not even the addition gave away place where the HTC logo sits. Previously, the two softkeys were here so accommodated. These are now so now, as with Android is quite common, as softkeys moved in's actual display. Thus, these black bars is now completely wasted space. And yes, I know that HTC has already expressed on this issue and said that because of course sit underneath important things and the place is so far no means wasted. But this explanation is - with all due respect - absolute bullshit. The fact that there have not left a vacuum in the interior under the strip of loud Jux and romp, but that, of course, something will be there, was perfectly clear that had the do not need to explain. The changes, yes, but not alter the fact that it then more space for their equipment up here still obviously need than others. Take as another example the Sony Xperia Z1. The relatively large unused area around the display criticized, which was especially grown significantly compared to its predecessor and thus the device made it clear awkward (especially above.) - Here was also - and quite rightly. Were you at Sony just stupid, you could stand up and say, of course, that because underneath are all important things and the place thus far untapped. Yeah important things under there, the contest yes no. But the fact is now times, that other important things, the same things get in less space.

Ultimately, the One M8 is thus simply become too large in relation to the display size. An S5 is handy, and an LG G2 has an even larger display and is even smaller. Yes, both of which have not so great speaker, that's clear. Nevertheless, the One M8 could have been considerably more manageable without these mindless black stripes.

Quality
******

Finally, a tiny point of criticism towards quality: All M8 that I've seen (well, they were a total of 3), the upper back camera module "wrong" installed. "Imbalance" in the sense that we as around the lens, a type of plastic frame with 4 bar looks, and these 4 beams are not aligned vertically or hori- but just slightly twisted and thus wrong. Furthermore, the volume rocker is shaky at all three devices.

That might sound a little pienzig, but these things I noticed personally within the first few seconds of the first contact with the device. Given the 679, -, which are called here and thus move at the level of current iPhones, must in my opinion also attached such trifles.

That the power button, as with most other HTC is also placed on top of conceivable stupid, then is really just a side note worth. For small devices ala iPhone this placement may still halfway ok be (really useful I found them there never), but at this size (just as well already for the predecessor) it is for my taste there simply stupid conceivable. But ok, is just the way, has always been so, and now also led to no further depreciation. Did it have only nevertheless noted. :)

Conclusion
****

I used to sometimes someone for whom had to be a mobile phone made of metal and the "plastic bomber" any Coleur detested. Inzw. I'm a little more pragmatic. Fearing scratches on the noble metal shell parts you pack anyway in some sort of bag / cover (at least I did), so you always had nothing more from the noble metal casing. Inzw. is a metal case for me no more must-have. If a plastic housing is properly processed and especially neat touches (which eg in a Galaxy S4 was not the case in a S5 but thoroughly), then I can live very well. But even if metal housing still a preference for me would be - this one is a little too large, and the camera too bad. In this respect, unfortunately, we are not friends.

Well, now diligently "Not helpful" click! : D Because I am of course only a commissioned and paid by Samsung man who speaks the M8 unjustly bad ...: D Well, the two 1-star reviews are actually imbecile because I have to "unhelpful" clicked. I have taken at least bother to describe exactly what I do not like to the part. To assign a rating of 1 or 2 stars and then write a single line of text, however, is stupid per se.
