The wireless setup was a bit bumpy with me. I have a router a Fritzbox 7270 and a repeater of AVM. The establishment of the wireless network using WPS not funktionierete. Although my router always indicating a successful connection establishment, the indicator LED of A1 sprand repeatedly to permanent yellow flash and then again with continuous yellow configuration readiness display. Only the device by manually entering the network key brought the desired success.
The rest of the facility was then easily. App installed (on Nexus 10), UPnP server is installed on the PC and it could go. The UPnP Server is überigens the Twonky Server, which is very good.
The biggest criticism of the Fidelio series overall the software. One has to keep good Philips that will obviously worked hard on the software. The initial major criticisms are well resolved or improved. So I do not always reconnect to the network and there is no tedious scanning of music library to more AW1. Internet radio is running smoothly and the album art of the title are displayed pefekt. The app also runs very smoothly on the Nexus 10 and Nexus S
But unfortunately, many small things disturb this good product.
1. The beiligende installation guide is a joke. Even for a "Quick Start Guide" it is much too short. In addition, are not explained in German all the important points.
2. The license key for the Twonky media server is located on the back of the English "Qick Start Guide". One can certainly find a better place for it, but if it is placed there already, should at least be a reference to the other instructions.
3. The app will always start with an intro (information line), this would be if at all, only at a first start meaningful. This intro you can skip, but then ends up in a menu by queries whether you want to configure a speaker, or Latsprecher is already einmgerichtet. This should be done only at a Erstanmledung, the device is connected to the network, there should be an extra point for the configuration.
4. Legend for status LED on the device should always be included in the manual and are explained at the beginning of the configuration in the app. It would avoid a lot of operator error when setting when you unhide a link to explain not only when an error occurs.
5. In general, one is left on the status of the device in case of failure in the dark. One does not see the possibility of what the configuration is ultimately failed.
6. When searching radio stations, you have to have a search result enter the exact name. Entering eg "89.0" does not deliver a result, when you enter "89.0 RTL" the station is found. This is ugly and not prior art.
What I miss is a search function in the songs. In the current version of the app, you can only scroll through and the title then add to the playlist. This is very troublesome. Ärgelich it is when you have added the title and the "back" button again at "A" and ends up not in the place where you jumped off.
With the premise that the App is continually being developed, as before, we can recommend the A1 well. It offers the same as the twice as expensive competitors, including the shortcomings of the respective apps.
