Eventually, I decided instead to my second big wish come true, and so I canceled the order, the Pentax equipment and (reluctantly) sold my Fujifilm X-100 and ordered the Fujifilm X-Pro1 with initially three lenses ( XF 35 1.4, 14 2.8 XF and XF 55-200 3.5-4.8).
The X-Pro1 thrilled me if only because of its traditional use. After all, how does photography? If you have found the subject, exposure and image effect fits you primarily at by shutter speed and aperture. These two factors have always been the lifeblood of photography. All the more incomprehensible that many modern cameras have neither shutter speed dial nor aperture ring on the lens. Instead, there are scene modes for all possible and impossible situations, but also do nothing more than to find each considers appropriate shutter speed and aperture combinations. You know yourself, how to find suitable combinations, you can best adjust on one or two dials own values, but the feedback via display ads or impressions need this in the viewfinder. Since my "analog" approach like much better. I put the shutter speed dial directly the time and on the aperture ring, the aperture. Point I, I have the aperture ring to A shutter priority, I put the shutter speed dial to A, AE, I put both on A is the programmed AE. that is very logical and beyond anything I need. So for the X-Pro1 has no scene mode. By the way some other aperture rings have zoom lenses with Fuji without engraved values and without stop. That's with zoom lenses without constant light intensity over the entire focal length range even somehow consistently and perfectly acceptable.
The viewfinder (which I already knew from the X-100) is unique! You can choose whether you prefer to use an electronic viewfinder or optical with electronic eingespiegeltem illuminated frames. Granted, the X-Pro1 is a bit longer in the market and the electronic viewfinder is not quite up to the amount of time, but I use it now but mostly. However, the optical viewfinder has its charm, because you can see here on the later image edges away what is happening, what may be useful also in many situations.
The image quality of the cameras of the X-system is absolutely awesome! Because the excellent lenses have undoubtedly plays a decisive role. My three lenses provide extremely high detailed drawing, even at maximum aperture, and also at the edges. Because of the special sensor, the Fuji does not need a low-pass filter. Moiré stay out yet. Not least, the camera has an excellent JPEG engine on board. The various film simulations known and popular Fuji films are really good, even if I shoot mainly in RAW format. The firmware allows a RAW conversion and subsequently in the camera. Fuji brings the way to run firmware updates out and also provides useful features to.
I would like to highlight the negligible noise even at high ISO values. Also, the dynamic range is reduced only marginally. With ISO 1600 can still work in almost full quality!
The autofocus of course is not as fast as in modern DSLR systems. Even my Pentax K7 was faster. But for the Focus sits always 100% accurate! So little waste as with the X-Pro1 I had not for a long time! In terms of speed Fuji has now progressed. Those who value a fast autofocus, should look more the X-E2 or the new X-T1. Then, however, that lack of optical viewfinder.
The feel is, both the camera and the lenses on, a treat! Taking pictures with the X-Pro1 makes reason alone again really fun!
I could go on raving page long, but I hear now on rather before it is implausible. ;-)
Switching to the Fuji X-System I have not regretted a second.
