Without going into track by track, let's say the first part of the album is powerful, and in the first five songs are not sennuie second. The song is a potential hit is Postcards From The Past. A killer worthy of his greatest hits, with a good solo master Steve, "so come on!" But the first song, Bitter Pill is also excellent. Cant Break Me Down reminds me of The Cars, a good feeling with new wave and its dose délectro; quavec while still quite délectro, I find Save Me Now has little tunes Simple Minds. We note that in the themes, Billy is quite nostalgic about old times "golden years", and that is reflected in tracks like One Breath Away, where her singing quite recall Jim Morrison, or Postcards From The Past. This is still the case in the title track of the album, in which he recounts his career in five minutes with plenty demotion (Johnny Rotten, concerts at the Roxy, sex, drugs), to conclude that it is still there, despite the abuse of the times. The album also includes its share of ballads (I recall that this is not a crooner-punk for nothing). Some more successful (Kings & Queens Of The Underground, Eyes Wide Shut, Ghosts In My Guitar) than others (Nothing To Fear, Love And Glory). The album ends with a bang, with Whiskey And Pills, a rather hard piece punk rock and almost a little surprising his world.
Overall I am delighted with this album. I regret that the guitar Steve is not more forward, sometimes buried under layers of electro. This guy sends crazy riffs (remember Top Gun! Not the girl, or Tom Cruise, but the main theme. Respect!), But it is often a little behind (on Postcards From The Past, this is fragrant ). The bass is very present even in the pieces where a lot délectronique is used. Finally, this is my biggest critic, I find it unfortunate that all the quieter pieces were placed one after the other, from the sixth to tenth piece.
