Externals
The machine is designed very minimalist. The controls are limited to an on / off switch with LED and a large knob for espresso and steam output. What makes the XP3440 is its narrow shape, which takes it away from little space in the kitchen.
The build quality is good, the quality materials used.
Service
The operation is explained practically by itself. First one on the machine and fills the filter holder with the coffee powder. There are two strainers, even for a cup and once for two cups. It is nice that the respectively required in the housing under a lid can not be kept, together with the measuring spoon.
After heating the machine and inserting the portafilter turning the central knob on Making coffee. Does the cup reaches the desired capacity, rotating the knob back. Finished!
Wash the filter holder and filter immediately under running water, the cleaning is done quickly. In addition, you should empty the drip tray (and clean if necessary), because there always runs a little water pure.
The water tank is surprisingly huge, given the compact machine. As I prepare ungerne my espresso with stagnant water, I fill it only to one-third, unless I visit.
A multilingual guide that explains everything in sufficient detail, is attached.
Pleasure
The espresso tastes very good, better than the known from me fully automatic. He has an acceptable Crema, which is topped only from the true professional machines. The temperature of espresso is perfect.
The frother served its purpose. You have to wait a little until the steam comes, but then the milk is foamed pretty fast. However, as soon as I use the nozzle.
I like the Krups very good. You need maybe a few handles more than a fully automatic, for the cost of cleaning is then much smaller. Design, handling and taste are absolutely fine given the moderate price.
