Maybe I'm not the only one who had to decide whether the WD Green or Blue is the better choice. The official data are essentially the same (1TB, SATA, 64MB cache) only at the revolutions there are differences (Green: 5900, Blue: 7200). Also from the "features" here, no differences can be seen. Both drives support SMART, Power Management, Upgradeable firmware .... The electricity consumption I could not be measured directly, supposedly that of the Blue (6 watts) to be about twice as high as in Green (3 Watt). In addition, falls on the Green is already running more quietly and even some degree remains cooler, so a little less fan noise associated total. Specifically, I could measure the access time as the Blue was with 15,5ms by approximately 9% front, the difference is actually marginal. With the average data transfer rates that Blue was about 25% faster or around 30MB / s. Price, the two plates at the time of the test almost to the cent were identical.
Conclusion: The difference is rather low and depends on your preference, only those who really consistently high data streams needs the Blue, I personally prefer the more fuel-efficient and quieter Green. But no matter what, it actually makes the purchase nothing wrong.
