Generally the super-group comprised of musicians from several legendary formations arouse controversy. Them Crooked Vultures is no exception to the rule with John Paul Jones, Dave Grohl and Josh Homme is three generations of musicians who come together (though I think between these two should not be a big difference). In any case right out of this album, and opinions are divided as those of Amazon users! It is an appreciation cold I'm trying to do after the release of this album that is there are more than six months. First one thing is clear, I think this album is not easy access for the listener. I made several intensive listenings to give notice. From the outset, two formidable titles open this disk "No one loves me & Neither do I" and "Mind Eraser, No Chaser" in rhythmic hammer-pillon to Zeppeliniennes tend to orbit with the sensational play of John Paul Jones bass. "New Fag" défouraille dry it with a battery from Dave Grohl unleashed on a ternary rhythm proposed by his two accomplices. "Deadend friends" Original psyche melody coupled with a riff Stonien Josh Homme. "Elephants" intro electro-shock with a compact and efficient group generating heavy atmosphere to say the "Doom" to lead a beautiful melodic base. "Scumbag Blues" atmosphere Hendrixienne with the falsetto voice of Josh Homme interspersed Funcky sequences. Joussif. "Bandoliers" is a nice song with a musical bridge worthy of the famous "Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin. "Reptiles" delusional and crazy cosmic melodies with catchy. "Interlude with ludes," a quiet title is surreal melodies, delicious, is reminiscent of the Doors. "Warsaw or the first breath you take After You give up", medium piece, compact in the same vein of the beginning of the album that surprises the listener when Josh Homme splits a solo (one of the few on this opus) very rock becoming completely "hallucinating" and more one can still appreciate the bass John Paul Jones on this title. "Caligulove" rock very heavy hitter clocked with a ghostly organ with a refrain "very fit in with a delirious musical conclusion. "Gunman" Heavy piece, ultra-classic to believe maybe John Paul Jones dominates debates on this record !!! "Spinning in daffodils", refined piano intro with a gradual rise in tension to a scorching rock generating a morbid mood and madness. Throughout this album each song, something happens, rhythms and different atmospheres with very little musical exhibition of three friends. We really are dealing with an album, full and dense where the listener finishing listening arouses curiosity to return. Anyway that is my opinion, it is a success and that is very convincing, immerse yourself in this album you will discover the charms of the universe of Them Crooked Vultures.
