The drive (formatted as FAT32) in the housing is no problem of Win7 and Ubuntu (12.10) known by various computers and at least it will not be slowed down (it is lame anyway). Plate + housing are operated on a normal USB port and are stable even during long data transfers. But pulling a little more power than, say, the USB OTG ports of an Android tablet (Archos80G9) and a Samsung S3 deliver - with a Y-cable and external power supply but it also goes to the devices (but that's not really practical - was actually a bit my hope that carry a mobile data archive) ... the power consumption of the drive but I can not blame the housing.
I am satisfied and would recommend the case for accommodating such an old 1.8-inch drive for such a low price.
