I run the monitor at full resolution via Thunderbolt with my Macbook Pro Retina 13 "(Late 2013).
In itself, I am very satisfied with the monitor. Out-of-the-box comes pre-calibrated at the monitor. However, you should help out there perhaps again when estimating the precision of colors. It is also important that the full sRGB color space can not be represented. That's for me, but no spikes break, but rather for professional photographers.
Striking is likely that the monitor but is very wide with a recommended spacing for ergonomic working. Here LG should test yourself as a prototype again the display rather. Much more useful would be in the case of a curved monitor of this size, because in some cases, can be seen at the edges of a shadow of 1-2mm (depending on the light). In light there is also always a spot that shimmers in the light of illumination.
In addition, I expect in the supplied software scant improvements as additional features or a nicer UI.
The Thunderbolt port on the monitor, however, is fantastic! In order for the USB ports as well as the additional Thunderbolt port on the monitor can be used directly with a connection. My reflections, one of the most expensive Thunderbolt Docking Stations to buy (without docking) is obsolete. One downside is that there is only one USB 3.0 port, add enough power to operate an external hard drive or an external burner can. Another is the ergonomically unsound position of the connections over the foot. If the monitor is directly on the wall, then it's hard to reach the terminals.
The on-off switch is a big plus. However, he is unreachable by foot, since the switch is located just above the attachment of the foot.
Positive:
+ For a display this category (21: 9, 34 ") a noticeably good-pixel density of 110 ppi scarce
+ Matt display
+ Thin Edge
++ Connectivity (especially Thunderbolt!)
+ Simple design
Flashy:
- The transparent walk is beautiful and really gives a sort of "floating screen", but I would much rather hide the cables behind the foot. So the cables hang down quite disorganized and ugly.
- The split-screen software of LG does passable. Some settings as a profile for individual arranging the windows would be desirable.
Negatives:
- A Curved display would have been better at this size
- The quite shaky feet, which is fastened with only two small screws and is supported on two metal tabs.
- Due to the shaky foot tilting the monitor is anything but smooth. Since LG could abgucken little more of Apple's iMac stand.
- The True Color Finder does not work under OS X 10.10 and requires a USB cable, despite Thunderbolt connection
- The "Energy Saver Mode" is constantly activated during the adjustment of the color profile (for example, during the reading mode.). This means that the brightness is not adjusted in bright surroundings again.
- The USB 2.0 ports have a lot more USB 3.0 ports can be with 5-10 watts of power output.
- Only the USB 3.0 port delivers enough power to operate an external burner!
- The connections are not easily accessible from the front.
- The on-off switch is not to be achieved by the fixing of the foot.
All in all, there is of course room for improvement. But the connectivity, the brilliant 21: 9 format and the good quality of the display itself are good reasons to take the monitor shortlisted. However, negative fall on a whole series of criticisms on the part of the ergonomics.
