We bought 2 extra Lighthouse's our iRobot 780, since the cleaning was not optimal. A brief description of the situation.
The purification area consists of a living room (where the iRobot), about 1.2 m wide transition to the dining room, from which it goes over a 2m wide path to the kitchen and another door from the dining room into the anteroom. At each transition is a Lighthouse (ie 3 pieces).
After placing this Lighthouse's any room thoroughly cleaned before the iRobot further moves into the next room.
But there is potential for improvement or problems that should be solved for perfect products.
After the living room there is only the way into the dining room. From the dining room there as described above 3 ways, one way in the kitchen, a back to the hall and into the living room. If the dining room is ready, he (not for the way back, this he accepts only when it needs recharging) chooses may vary depending on the dining room or the hall. Once this space is cleaned, it goes way back to the dining room. On the way back it is then on the fortune, if he by the zig zag movement to another "room" looks in the dining room. Most unfortunately, he does not see him.
Also, the robot remembers the cleaning process through the dining room is not that there is still another way here he has to take, what it would look.
Another problem is that the iRobot constantly Lighthouses shifts / twists, so we have to check every time, whether all Lighthouses are where they should be. Like sticking / we can not, because otherwise no longer comes to the batteries.
Here we are already talking about the last point, you need a lot of battery power, so they are designed (not supplied) for using large C batteries. But these batteries are significantly more expensive than the standard AA and AAA batteries, especially the matching (electronically controlled) chargers are virtually unaffordable. While there are adapter from AA to C, which I use, here you have to but that "life" that is to recharge the batteries on a monthly basis.
