- Define no more shortcuts
(I have been working with Corel Draw 4, so do not X4 but really 4; as you get used to keyboard shortcuts What a cheek, every free program can now configure a lot..)
- No more Styles
(Even if we send out a newsletter to friends and family only every few months, then Styles are not a luxury but minimal amenities - Corel has now suddenly declares the "Professional Feature" and poured out)
- You realize all that the makers have no respect for the home customers (remove existing features but for years secretly is a joke, especially with a slogan of "no limits")
Is someone already noticed: In many programs there are beginners and Pro versions. Usually, shows then send tables, with additional features to attract customers at some point in the Pro version. With Corel I have the Home version not even found on the website. So also no table of all missing functions; which would indeed be embarrassed. And who will download the trial version, then later experienced with Home the big disappointment.
- Catastrophic memory management: X6 is the worst thing to me so far in my Windows 7 Pro has come 32: A simple four-page document in the Mail Merge for 138 name: nil; three hours torture, tens of crashes, file split and played around; repeatedly crashes. You can track the Task Manager, as the X6 memory full dredged nix outsource and then promptly crashes again when the memory is full. We make this kind newsletter since tens of years, always with Corel, but now it's over. X6 Monday is uninstalled. Best feature: saving to X4; so that my document is not lost today (because I should have it come earlier).
For several years I use parallel and Scribus. Here is a short comparison of the current version. The surface is not as pretty as in Corel and it lacks some features (eg, over several levels simultaneously work). But it works! Version 1.4.3 is super stable. And it costs nothing; there is still money in it for a printed manual for the switch. Now I have to figure out how to do mail merge there. Luckily runs Corel X4 still decent (there support the Unicode works only with single-language documents, so we had actually bought X6).
I also wrote to Corel, because it is a pity if only Adobe dominates the market. Listen over here Marketing: In the past we have voluntarily spent $ 100 for a license (at that time they were not home - but "expired" versions). Power back a decent product, then we are happy to pay a reasonable price. Usually we buy every other version. Become so excited reviews from X8 look through when the time comes. Until then, then marketing has perhaps decided that it is to be called "200016" ... The main thing, the package looks great in the shop window ...
