Handling: The gap is easily and because of the shape of the blade slides the branches not from the scissors. But you have to move very far because of the translation, the lever arms to open the gap. In extreme cases, the lever arms are almost mutually at an angle of 180 degrees. With a length of the lever arms, each about 70 cm so you need quite place to work with scissors - and long arms.
Cutting performance: Through the tooth gear you really a good translation and a lot of power on the blade. Thus, thick and hard branches make good cut.
Quality: Perhaps you through the long lever arms and the gearbox even too much force, because the cutting of branches of Cornus - added a very hard wood - broke the blade. The breaking point looks very porous, without being a metal expert it looks to me like cast iron, which, although characterized by a high hardness, but on the other hand by a low elasticity and therefore is quite brittle.
Warranty: As I learned to demand from Fiskars customer service, the blade is subject (as well as the anvil) as a wearing part not under warranty. Thus, the warranty will cover just going to the lever arms.
In summary, I see the following positive and negative points:
+ High power and cutting capacity by gear ratio
+ Due to the shape of the blade, the branches not slipped out of the Lopper
+ The gap is relatively light for its size
+ Quick response from Fiskars customer service
+ Spare parts available
- The warranty does not cover relevant parts of the Lopper
- The cutting blade appears in relation to the force applied by the long lever arms and the gearbox on them to be too weak
- Unwieldy at work in the woods
Recommendation: The long lever arms and the need to open this wide, difficult to use, because in the woods this often is not enough room and costs the long lever movements time easily. The 80 cm Getriebeastschere is therefore useful to employ more for really thick and hard branches. So long as you want to cut only small or soft branches, one is faster with a smaller lopper or scissors without gears.
If anyone knows a lopper with the same cutting performance and better quality, I would be interested in the experience.
