Customer Review

Daniel Schuhmacher is probably most famous as the winner of an unspecified to be named talent show. And I admit that even I was therefore vitiated by a whole bunch of prejudices but for his third album, Diversity, which contains only self-penned songs, it is worthwhile to mention this and give the singer with the distinctive voice of a chance. You are rewarded then namely thirteen modern and catchy Popstücken that have nothing of the plastic stick music productions other talent show participants per se.

Rolling Stone, the advance single from the album, opens the album and also shows the same direction of the third album of the singer on. It has become a cool club song, the unusual sounds rightly electronic musical accompaniment for the singer once decried as cuddly shoemaker. His high voice comes especially in the long tones of the chorus very good effect, while singing the verses significantly deeper and more rhythmic and so presents its wide range.

It follows gold, in the verses is very catchy and prepared with the darkly fanciful musical accompaniment to the powerful, outcry end chorus. Good like the text describing the temptations of money and very well fit into the overall concept of the song.

Heart of Stone is an offbeat song, but is accompanied by concise percussion, which are supported by various electronic elements. The song is reminiscent of dark glam pop pieces of the 80's, voice and music are of equal and mutually complementary.

Dim the lights is a punchier sing-song which goes quickly into the ear and has a very catchy melody. Economical and also very electronically the verses are accompanied, during the chorus clearly ascends again and so brings a skillful contrast point.

Touch me is a nice song that fits well on the album, but not a highlight of this is. Conceptually, it is not as pronounced as the previous songs and faded as the revision of the album a bit. A song that you will not click while listening to the complete plant, the one but not extra-dials.

Why do I cry surprised with the distortion of the voice of shoemakers who gets as a new facet and still looks organic. The very electronic implementation of the song's beat stressed fed and, moreover, very danceable. Again a successful track of the album.

Doleful distinguishes itself significantly from the previous songs, and is greatly reduced, a piano and the voice in the foreground and be complemented by other instruments typical band until later in the song. The soulful, but fortunately not kitschy ballad is Schuhmacher as well as the cool club songs, be very clear sound coming here to particularly good effect.

Propaganda tilts the mood afterwards again completely with synthpop sounds and very rhythmic chant quietly brass sounds and a male choir contrast the very electronic sound of the song, which acts powerfully and energetically just in the chorus. Certainly a highlight of the album.

The subsequent Take the Silence provides shoemaker voice and the emotional text clearly in the foreground, also here working with piano, guitar and percussion Show and so presents a much more organic sound. Quiet and withdrawn the chorus is then succeeded, nothing seemed fake, but appears from shoemaker heart to come.

Fluctuating mood then strikes again in the same vein as the majority of the album is pop, synthetic and catchy, quiet verses provides a significantly more expressive chorus against. The air of gloom which is above the song can convince even the little gadgets are managed.

Over increases over time more and more, begins only with a beat and the room-filling voice to, slowly adds more instruments and ends with a melodic chorus, which is faster and more catchy. With like reduced stanzas better, but here too a chic, modern song originated.

Vertigo presents a completely different style, is a pleasant pop-rock song which acts supplemented by a little electronic gadgetry only in the chorus. Beautiful as shortly before the end of the album again another facet of the singer is shown, especially if this happens in a so complete and organic song like Vertigo.

On A New Wave appeared already in 2011, two years before the publication of Diversity. Even here is the electronic basic tenor of the album to find, as well as the combination of quiet verses and powerful chorus. Nevertheless, the song falls compared to the rest of the album from something seems flatter and not as mature. Here you realize how much the new style of the singer has been solidified in the last two years.

Daniel Schuhmacher has clearly detached from his career so far and presents a very mature album. Largely dominated by synth-pop pieces he consolidates his style, which adheres exemplary nothing plastic or artificially a mere adjunct. You can tell that the songs are from the artist himself that he can identify with the songs. Three songs stand out through the very different instrumentation and put successful contrast points to the numerous synth pop numbers. This in turn each have their powerful expression and the varied moods. A significant development and a very good album!
