Death Magnetic - or death magnetically ???

as it is now, the new packet of metallica. long I have followed the whole story by missionmetallica and had thus already a good impression possible. Now I have the album a few times heard and think that I can assess packet unparteisch. We come first to the box. nice coffin form - relatively corny, but matches the cover design. First negative point when unpacking - the Metallica logo is just a sticker on the front of the film, this is peeled off the coffin just white. My question: why ??? so I have the stickers pasted frimelig settled and carefully with adhesive tape on the coffin - even before I thing the first time opened. then the time had come undone. OK, at the top of a convertible poster in coffin shape - also too cheesy for hanging. oh, a lanyard with a Death Magnetic VIP card, good idea, looks nice and could do with Haustürschlüssel useful for. then two cards, one with a code for a download - and in the other ... the picks for the guitar ... ??? Please??? I play guitar myself but I have to push out the things only from a template Yes I have never come under, as were real Picks been somehow loving. I will never use anyway dei dinger - too good, despite the half-baked implementation. then a shirt with Death Magnetic motive - also nice, just like the flag, unfortunately I find the normal fan merchandise of the motives forth clearly appealing. Then finally came the exciting part: the cd digipack in email, casket motif with cut, the demo CD and the Making of DVD. also some other pieces are not spared them - to say that also struck me that the CD sounds at times does not produce clean, with songs such as "The Day That Never Comes" roar the pool at the end of the first thing is already huge. but in my opinion I can live with it, because the rest of the sound is managed in my eyes. many complained generally about a bad production, but except for the override of the pool liked the sound actually through me. the making of dvd is quite nice and reminiscent of a "Some Kind Of Monster" light - no litigations without alcohol dependence - you can see just the guys when importing. Guitar fans come here at their expense, as you guess quite a few days of old looks (I say only Gibson Flying V and Ride The Lightning and I seem to have seen the EET FUK, but could also have been on missionmetallica). the demo CD is especially interesting if you already know the album well, so therefore sounds very cool to Metallica when they go to practice in their HQ ;-).
We come now to the cd and each song:

1. That was just your life 3/5 *: the opener begins to cool and show what you thing is - good riffing throughout the song - unfortunately is the way James Although sings aggressively, but I miss a thrilling chorus or the like. musically but a delight.

2. The End of the Line 5/5 *: moment, the reef but I know !!! that's the new song or death is not the end !!! ok almost, same riff, but on the other song and other text - very cool, the thing goes in the same flesh and blood, the riffs are even better than with 1 song and this time I am seized with the vocals - cooler refrain! many different parts provide variety, especially the place quiet like and loads of slight fatigue quickly to dream. In my opinion, the first highlight of the CD. lots of variety and thrilling performance from jaymz.

3. Broken, Beat & Scarred 4/5 *: the song was liked from the beginning, the rocking riff and when one could think straight starts singing - the best Metallica song of all time! so simple is then not. while the verse in my eyes with one of the best of Metallica history, unfortunately, is the refrain is not present thereon level. Here then more is bludgeoned. the solo goes kirk guitar up and down, but somehow grabs me the solo not like before on the old boards. was presented a shame that there still a lot of potential, still a great song.

4. The Day That Never Comes 5/5 *: One or Part 2. some with whom I have talked to have some notice parrallen so. ok, the song structure is similar, but fortunately that's the only thing that connects the two songs. This song really fits everything. ranging from the zupfparts with the hot lead guitar, on the quiet verse to chorus snotty. after that it's vastly more aggressive after the c-part in which jaymz everything again raushaut you get well again 3-4 minutes instrumental pur. either you love it or hate it, accordingly, the song either too short or too long. for I rather too short. a hit and rightly became the first single. The song is simply enthralling.

5. All Nightmare Long 4/5 *: a trippy song, here is up and down gerifft like crazy and now that I know in part 2, death is not the end again, but this time another riff but - funny from unused songs that best represent rausfleddern =), crazy song many structures including aggressive refrain. some ingenious riff vermsichen come up with some very nice parts - but despite many bright spots, it is sufficient not quite the full score, the main reason is that as the solo parts again are just nice and not be able to convince 100%. but here a lot is on offer - especially diverse.

6. cyanide 5/5 *: either hate it or you love him the song. In my opinion, this song has invariably ingenious riffs combined with a jaymz Hetfield in perfect shape. vocally everything fits like chalk and cheese (here necessarily the witty text of the demo version German soup listen). the rocking chorus with such coolness that it already would have to apply under abnormal cool. the c-part with its mix of crazy riffs and quiet moments - and there the transition to the guitar solo can be described as brilliant and grab me again and again, for me also a highlight point on this album.

7. The Unforgiven III 5/5 *: here my assessment is relatively difficult. the name is committed to large, I think why many rate this song so bad, the song, for example, "New Dawn's Light" or would would "golden treasure" hot so determined to go out some opinions different. At first I found some song structures tiring to hear the rocking verse with the slow lyrics and the subsequent quiet place. now this is song for me every time the absolute highlight. the intro with the piano and the strings in the background - simply divine, the transition to the band - divine, the riffing - divine, transition to solo - divine. everything fits when you get used to it and it gets involved. the sentimental mood of this song blows so few competitive songs easily aside.

8. The Judas Kiss 5/5 *: ok from the art song (long, loud, many riffs) While there are plenty, but here all agree riffs without exception and some perfect filters (so what now where i go?) Including perfect aggressive refrain (bow down) let me just awarded the highest score at the end. the thing fits from start to finish and then a Tuen the neck vertebrae but something of the hurt it not being fixed.

9 Suicide & Redemption 4/5 *: This song is difficult to assess, initially running the song inconsequential on a pass, but after a few runs, come the qualities clearly to the fore. , although it is an instrumental, but when you get used to the structures you can actually have it just loving. the Erten 2 minutes walk still relatively unspectacular - yes almost uninspired from, but then it runs in 3.5 minutes inexorably to the quiet location with sensational leadguitar addition, because you can only go along if the reef reinstate. the rest of the song blends seamlessly with a wide variety of reef / Lead combinations. with each passage of the track better.

Conclusion: At the end remains to be said that most songs with a lot of effort and attention to detail have been designed. it reaches almost ran to the old days - but in the end is a somehow realized that the old days are nunmal old and passed, but that does not matter because DM does not exactly like justice or ride sound - that it does nciht and the does not matter. it takes its place in the list of good Metallica albums and us a lot of joy - who knows if we will ever hold yet another album of these gentlemen in our hands ??? Whether you buy the album so or whether it is ordered in the box must always know himself. I've been buying this box no regrets.
