Death of a hero

The OMAC Project (Paperback)

Customer Review

We are in 2005 and this volume is one of the four stories that served as prelude to Infinite Crisis, with Rann-Thanagar War, Villains United and Day of Vengeance. It combines the one-shot infinite Countdown to Crisis (written by Geoff Johns, Greg Rucka and Judd Winick), 6 numbers of the miniseries The OMAC Project (written by Rucka and drawn by Jesus Saiz) and Wonder Woman 219 (written by Rucka ).

Batman has designed and implemented a device to neutralize superheroes if they were to switch sides. Unfortunately someone has infiltrated the system and took control. The spy organization Checkmate was also infiltrated and no longer works for the US government, but for another purpose which is not blameless. And finally someone took control of Superman, what will bring Wonder Woman to commit irreparable gesture.

I can not tell you more not to reveal the twists if you do not know the story. The action is briskly. The designers are of a good standard and revelations hurt.

The editorial team that led to the design and implementation of the mega-crossover Infinite Crisis has really done his job and the history contained in this volume proves to be more than just an appetizer: a true story combines action superhero (a galaxy of guest stars: Batman, Booster Gold, Superman, Oracle, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern ...) and Espionage with a challenge and long-term consequences.
