Hero or Traitor?

Recounts 60-year history of a Spanish village under Francoism with a backdrop the search for historical truth about the death of the teacher of the village in 1944.
Following the chance discovery of notebooks that this character, revered by the Spanish Falangists and hated by the rest of the village, wrote, we learn that he was actually a republican spy.

Positives of this novel:
-The Theme of memory against heroes, anti-heroes and the cowards.
What place in the historical memory of those who work for the good cause, in the dark and dies in oblivion, even in hatred?
-The Theme of cowardice before the tragic events, fear and remorse afterwards.
FIGS style with this ability of the author to move to different tables of the story, without chronological sequence within the same chapter, the same dialogue, or even the same sentence.

The negative points:
-Some Passages are too long and some a bit excessive characters on the edge of credible as Elisenda.
-Not Enough explanations on the Spanish conflict between Republicans and nationalists.

I recommend it but it is rather a holiday book because it must be able to spend time on.
