Decent housing

In the small package of black and silver Avantek HDD cage is next to the actual USB 3.0 SATA 2.5 "enclosure and a short USB3 cable and a self-adhesive pad which allows the hard drive to rattle, vibration and shock can be secured. As a protective case is good the pad but certainly not, and the case itself provides against the shock occurring also no explicit protection.
The housing consists of a solid, rigid aluminum frame with a blue, slit-like LED on the rear left side, indicating access to the hard drive. Bottom and lid are made of black glossy plastic.

The lid can be easily opened by pushing and the hard disk has to be inserted only in the SATA connector - screws are not necessary. For operation with USB3.0 power a 2.5 "hard drive or SSD also usually is not a problem when used with USB2.0, the maximum current consumption of 500mA, however, be exceeded.

A power switch is not present in USB but not absolutely necessary.

The device is detected as ASMT 2115 USB Drive and works under Windows without a separate driver installation.
The transfer rates are as directly operated with my test disk largely with SATA.

The product was left to me for free for testing by the supplier. My rating is unaffected.
